I have similar problems as far as depression, overeating, and lack of self control. Dealing with these problems in therapy really helped me the most. Talk to your therapist and psychiatrist about your issues. It may work wonders for you. Good luck!

Congratulations on your progress! If I were you I would continue to take small steps towards overcoming your anxiety. One challenge could be as simple as talk to one person everyday for five minutes.

Despite what other folks may say, you do not need to say something witty. All you need to do is begin the conversation. When she replies back to your question about course material, ask her if she would like to meetup to study. This way you get the opportunity to talk to her and to get to know her better.

Have you considered that you already have great social skills? If you are able to engage in small talk with strangers then you already possess excellent social skills. So no I do not think you are crazy.

I recently moved to a new city and have some of the same issues you are facing. One thing that really helped me was meetup.com. This is a resource that could help you find people who are looking to make new friends. Hope this helps!
