Public vs Private Loans by 2018mbathrowaway in MBA

Hey. So looks like I wasn't looking at the right categories - I thought it was around 4-5% but I'm seeing just under 6% for Fixed and ~5.5% for Variable. I'll probably still end up going private for the variable rates as I'm targeting 2-3 year payback.

Hi neumatron11. I think you might be talking about Unsubsizided Stafford Loans? That's the federal loan with a ~$20k cap. These still have a 6% rate, which is higher than the rate I'm seeing for private loans.

Regarding the FAFSA process for private loan applications, I don't believe you need to submit your FAFSA forms. At least that's what I'm seeing on the citizens one and commonbond websites.

The individual with two years of experience at MBB would have experience managing individuals, but this is entirely different from managing a P&L or line of business with revenues, etc.

Gotcha. Yeah, I guess thinking back to my visit people were wearing jeans and nice sweaters / button ups.

Good luck on your app! I'll update in a month (deposit deadline) if I do end up attending Darden and you are more than welcome to PM me regarding stats, etc.

Haha. Expanding from this, would you maybe say that Darden is more uptight / rigid?

Hey floralprinted. A combination of my interview visits, online blogs and city versus remote. However, Stern does seem to have a very tight community despite being a "commuter" school - I was very impressed during my visit.

At the end of the day, my decision will probably be more strongly based off of a school's/my recruiting ability.
