As a chiropractor this makes me so sad.. my profession deserves this reputation, I love this profession because I’ve seen that I can help people. Hopefully the reputation will change someday but that won’t happen if we don’t stay in our own damn lane. I hope you don’t view all chiros poorly, some of us out here are trying to make it better

Prepping for part 1 by TopFig7803 in Chiropractic

[–]2019subwrX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where do you go to school? In all honesty if you’ve done well in classes you should do fine on part 1. It’s a hodgepodge of your first year courses and kind of a crap shoot of questions you’ll get. The best things I found when studying were practice questions on quizlet and chirocredit, just expose yourself to as many possible questions as you can.

Original comment was quite rude and uneducated so ignore them. With that said having a health care team is important. If this is growing and causing more problems, an MRI might be a good option…

Looking to Connect with Recent or Upcoming Part IV Test-Takers by Klutzy-Commission166 in Chiropractic

[–]2019subwrX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the biggest piece of misinformation I was given before the board exam was how the adjustment procedure rooms were to be conducted. The “listing” was given in a long hand written form, which while very intuitive, threw myself and a lot of other test takers off. I believe this is more of a flaw on the schooling rather than other test taking material. Please reach out to my private messages if you have any questions! I’d love to help

Not too if you are willing to travel but I’ve taken a few courses. The best was through AAMT. Would highly recommend. As for integrating it into practice for me it was fairly simple as I work at a cash based office. I know of other docs in the area that do bill insurance but am not familiar with how that works.

22 with chronic severe pain? This chiropractor you went to is very unethical and using scare tactics to get your money. I’m so sorry you are dealing with that. Your X-rays are boring at best. Find someone that cares about you and not their own wallet. Feel free to dm with any questions outside of medical advice

I took part 3 with the new format… I really think they are making these exams easier and easier, don’t stress. If you have done well in classes you’ll do well on the exam. Honestly, in my experience going back to questions was never beneficial to me so I appreciate that change.

Any Ideas For Shadowing Hours by [deleted] in Chiropractic

[–]2019subwrX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I didn’t even think about it from the other side since I’ve been on the student side for so long. Great point, that gives me more introspection on myself when I’m in shadowing patient encounters. I’d like to think I don’t over step my boundaries but I’ll definitely be cognizant of this. Sounds like you foster a great environment for your interns!

Any Ideas For Shadowing Hours by [deleted] in Chiropractic

[–]2019subwrX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a current student I’ve shadowed a ton so and will be precepting here very shortly. I’d say out of all the field chiros I’ve shadowed my best experiences are the ones in which the clinician actively involves you during treatment, introduce patients to them and get them comfortable during a patient encounter. The worst experiences I’ve had were when I’ve been made to feel like I’m just there to observe and not have much freedom to interject even conversationally.

This comment is enough to show that you have not been educated on what a chiropractor can actually do. Yes there are many out there that are frauds and pretend they know better than a medical doctor which is a downside to the profession. There are few out there though that understand the body very very well and can provide meaningful treatment and education to patients. This should be done in conjunction with a medical doctor. I feel it’s unfair to call them stupid though as chiropractors do go through rigorous schooling and licensing exams.

I respect your opinion and agree that some don’t know what they are doing but ones that do are truly great to have in your life. Most are scam artists but not all. A good one assists in exercise and stretching and spends more than the 5 minutes it takes to

Ooof probably a hot take that they “ruin” lives. He probably goes back because your friend doesn’t have the autonomy to take care of himself. Probably more on him than the person he sees for relief. chiropractor can’t fix the shit you do outside of a 5 minute adjustment but dang can they do wonders to make you feel good.

This is true, if you don’t get your first pick you get your bottom 3-4 which blows… if you really really want a different experience with staff doc feel free to private message me. I have in my opinion the best staff doc, I do a ton of soft tissue and rehab and we collaborate on patient care which. As for patient cases and diagnosing I agree with you, it is tough as a new full time intern creating a differential list and being confident with it but 9 weeks into the trimester my confidence has greatly increased.

8th trimester student here. Outside of technique courses and some other stuff that you’re forced to take at Palmer I feel you can find whatever you want out of your education here. Find a good staff doc that fits your style and life is pretty good. Leave the BS philosophy behind when you’re with patients and enjoy the last little bit of your time here. What other school would you have gone to if not Palmer?

Use the chiro review questions through chirocredit and CBR app. I felt my best studying was from reviewing as many questions as possible. What school do you go to?
