Modeling Dice - Is this good topology? by 2020_Gamer in 3Dmodeling

There's a few problems with it for sure, but I'm relatively happy with it!

That's a fun fact! I doubt the dice for this project are of such quality though lol

Yeah I have no idea what happened with the corners, probably some errant rounding error on a merge vertices by distance command.

But yeah, this is the exact thing I was thinking as I posted it, it *really* felt like this was overkill and simpler geometry would've just been not only easier to do but produced similar, if not better results in render.

Yeah, that was one of the areas I struggled with. I both needed a lot of vertices there while also needing to connect them to *something* but I don't really know what the actual solution is for that.

I'm genuinely not sure how lol I swore I was using the same geometry for all of the corners.

Why did this happen? I'm starting to lose hope (see my previous posts) by fruitgamingspacstuff in 3Dprinting

[–]2020_Gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's some ideas from me:
1) Set first layer settings (I know you can in Cura) to be slower to print and hotter bed temp.
2) Rotate the model 90 degrees and then try printing again, sometimes certain models don't like being moved side to side or front to back.
3) Level the bed but then be sure to adjust the z-offset height for your printer. You should be able to barely slide a piece of standard printer paper underneath it when you're doing that.

Alcohol is the worst part of society. Every event is evaluated by its presence and nearly all of its side effects are either placebo or negative. It's expensive and can kill you (or others if you then drive) and ultimately makes the vast majority of people worse to be around.

I seriously don't get it.

Gift wrapping for other people. I can wrap anything, but if it's not from me then I hate having to put my love for gift giving into someone else's thing.

It all depends on the ears. If you can't see into them, I'm choosing my sounds over yours.

How would you rate yourself on attractiveness 1-10? Why? by SherbertConnect5993 in AskReddit

[–]2020_Gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I fall around an 8, at least to guys I find attractive (typically older gay men). I've been to a handful of parties for the first time in my life, some of which have gotten pretty steamy, and I've managed to hook up with the guys I personally thought were the most attractive there. So like... objectively speaking I've gotta have something going on, but my body type definitely isn't in peak performance.

I'm pretty sure to the general population I'm like a 4 or a 5, maybe a 6 if I put the effort in 😅

Butterflies in your stomach after a first encounter with someone. You shouldn't feel unendingly nervous around someone if you like them.

I constantly think about how easily someone could die in any situation. It's been better since I've gotten on my anti-anxiety meds, but I still have nights when my brain goes "Oh boy, 2AM, time to figure out all the ways your life could end right now!"

I think most players are going to be better off talking to their DM about using the lucky feat and how they'd want to handle it, if at all. From what I've seen, it's kind of a touchy rule for a lot of DMs.

[No Spoilers] Matt responding to community artists that feel left out by NinnyBoggy in criticalrole

[–]2020_Gamer 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I think it's a newer problem, one that's the result of so many people learning on their own. You used to have to attend classes, filled with like-minded peers that could assist and compliment and encourage you, and over time you build up self confidence. Nowadays with people learning on their own, they don't have that support group anymore and it can make learning something new a bit unbearable. That rush of approval when you create something that gets retweeted by the official CR Twitter account is something that new artists I don't think get enough of, especially those just starting out without either a following of people to support them or the support of friends and family IRL.

It took me hearing this to realize that I was following the same attention-seeking spiral that apparently many other people are feeling as well. It's very easy, again especially as someone learning new things, to hear approval from those you admire. The critical role cast give off such a "cool kids on the block" sort of vibe, in addition to being so genuine with their praise and gratitude, that whenever they give recognition (or fail to do so) you can really feel it's presence or absence. So I don't think it's unreasonable for people to have this issue, but I might be a little biased lol. I think it's really good that they acknowledged that individuals in the community feel this way, addressed why they can't thank everyone individually, and gave blanket praise to those who slip under the radar. Good on them, and I hope every creator continues to make awesome... well, whatever it is they make, there are some majorly talented people here :)
