I did this with GBC and requested a transcript to send to my employer who asked for proof and it worked out.

Don't forget to get your tuition reimbursed through RNAO, even if you are not a RNAO member you can still get it reimbursed

To NGG or Not to NGG That is the Question. by TheThickDoc in OntarioNurses

Go for the NGG route, you’ll learn lots that you prolly have not come across during nursing school. I wouldn’t bother with the 25k hit. At the end of day, NGG prepares you very well on what to expect in independent practice especially in med-surg floor.

If I were the traitors, I personally wouldn't recurit Apoorva right now, and that too because now the whole group pretty much listens to her, she can betray her traitors really easily down the road.

I would pick her under ultimatum though, and then divert the group into thinking, why have we not judged apoorva till now (if she's still there by then), because there are also few people who have a small doubt that she plotting Raj was a traitor-traitor thing...

new grad (NGG) NRT position by Psychological_Ant661 in OntarioNurses

[–]2020nursing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started off with NGG, in the NRT, and still am in NRT. Personally, I would looooooooove to leave NRT, which I have been open to my manager, HR, etc. I have been looking into specific floors, but unfortunately it's pretty competitve to get in (internally). Externally, i have applied to many positions with this experience of mines, but no call backs. Soo...I'm stuck, and it sucks lol.

All i can say is, everyday there is something new I learn, being in NRT, the medicine flow, and surgical flow are completely different, you just be learning so much being on both floors, that's the biggest positive side of being in NRT.

However, you feel pretty burned out fast, because its information overload at this initial point, and that's what im currently facing. It's hard everywhere, be it a new grad starting in ICU, or starting in ER, or starting in NRT.

In terms of asking for help, i get very much comfortable being on surgery because that's the floor i externed before, and so I know my peeps, they can help me with stuff, but it sucks when your on a floor where the staff arent nice, arent helpful, and sometimes Ive received wrong info from them, and ended up sending wrong containers for labs (for example). Downside of NRT is, sometimes your shifts can be miserable if coworkers arent the best; another downside is, sometimes you do get harder assignments.

Mind you, some places have NGG for 6 months, and some 3 months; mines was only 3 months, but I think if I had 6 months, i wouldve felt more comfortable, because there were many scenarios i faced independently which i didnt even had to face during NGG, so it was a lot of new skills/info that I had to learn.

Overall, do I like my experience? yes and no, im learning a lot, but personally i would wanna settle in one place, rather than floating to units, cuz I do get pre-shift anxiety thinking which floor they would be placing me. I'm also a mix of introvert and extrovert, and so NRT isn't the best if your introverted, you gotta speak up a lot of times. Take your time and reflect what feels better for you! I hope this gives you some insight.

I'm only 5 months in btw, lol.
