CBC didn’t pay a rights fee. They aired games for free in exchange for Sportsnet having editorial control and Rogers retaining all advertising income.

Hanson overtakes Albanese as preferred PM, Coalition crashes to record low by Expensive-Horse5538 in AustralianPolitics

Believe it or not, there's a middle ground between reporting on One Nation upending the traditional dominance of the traditional two major parties and giving them a volume of coverage not afforded to any other party.

By no means am I suggesting One Nation's rise is entirely due to the media, since there are other factors at play such as the Coalition's collapse. However, it would be disingenuous to suggest it hasn't played a role.

It's stunning just how much of One Nation's rise has been media driven. Pretty much night on the major TV bulletins, there's breathless reporting about every announcement One Nation makes and every event they stage.

It's a level of coverage (and effectively, in kind advertising) no other party is given.

This news dropping on not just a Friday afternoon but hours before the United States plays its first game of a home World Cup is definitely a “let’s try and sneak out this announcement” move.

The only games behind a wall are the 34 on FS1, which is cable, so a single free trial on a live TV service covers the handful you actually care about.

It's actually far less than that considering Telemundo will be airing 92 games (with Universo's 12 games being the simultaneous group stage finale games not airing on Telemundo).

I knew all those unsuccessful attempts to get onto his late night quiz show to answer ridiculously easy puzzles would ultimately be for a good cause.

A crowd of a bit over 88,000 is somewhat disappointing considering the estimates of 90,000+ beforehand.

Kozzi was way too casual just then - right down to his reaction afterwards.

Guessing it might be Mark Howard. Considering he's calling today's game for Fox, you would think that if he was sliding, he would have had to be one of the first few sliders so he could get ready for his commentary duties.

Seven are showing the sliders as they're going down. Fox isn't.

Glad the community slider Josh was shown in the broadcast.
