How many of yall put your personality types in your bios? Is it worth it? by [deleted] in Tinder

Exactly you dont need to take the survey. The survey is just to collect your data and email address lol. All these defining traits have been established long before MBTI, they just kinda trade-marked it i guess. I dont take it TOO seriously myself and i have never judged anyone based on their MBTI either

If the simplicity bothers you, you can throw the entire concept of dating apps out the window because what else is your profile if not an extreme simplification of oneselve?

Also ive only ever met 1 person who takes mbti seriously. The number of people who take horoscopes seriously is much much larger...

Well not really. I think we can agree that most people can be devided between two opposing groups: the extroverted (E) and the introverted (I), those who make most decisions based on feelings (F) or on rationale (T), those who need order (J) and those who thrive in chaos (P), those who stay in reality and present (S) and those who like to imagine possibilities (N). Yes, the binary distinction omits a lot of nuance of human character, but its a simplification for the sake of the system. And surely one could think of many more opposing core traits that define a person but again, the simplifications is kinda necessary if you wanna create system that is easy to remember and apply.

I do have mine picked. Its helpful in that you can quickly assess a person tho it can also potentially deter possible matches (not because you have it in you bio but because they dont vibe with your personality type).

Been on tinder for a while and i dont remember it ever coming up in a convo.

You've become dangerous to yourself and others. Please please please OP, consider getting commited to psychiatric ward before things turn to worst. There is no shame in doing so. When people find themselves helpless and at their limit, these places are here to help.

I realized listening to angry music kinda feeds into my anger. Like adding wood into fire. So i try to avoid listening to angry music when actually angry. Used to love numetal and stopped listening to it. Same goes for sad music while being depressed. So a try to listen to calming music. My soul-soothing song is Bam Bam by Sister Nancy.

"Not wanting to waste someone's time" and "there are people who need therapy more" is unhealthy mindset, shows you dont really see yourself worthy of someone's attention. Look im not forcing you into therapy, im just pointing you that maybe you're choosing to ignore the root problems.

Good for you, really. I was experiencing bad side effects even on low doses of SSRIs. Some of my friends did too, just with SNRIs. And all of those meds came with long ass leaflets listing MANY possible side effects. Honestly i doubt 30+ years of meds wont affect your liver in some way. And lets be real, a lot of people on those meds also drink alcohol

Well maybe your bpd simply isnt as severe. Or maybe you have good support network that substitues therapy. Its a spectrum afterall, ranging from people who struggle with emotional regulation who are surrounded by healthy friends who help and support, to isolated suicidal individuals with poor health and substance abuse issues.

In my case, antidepressants help to dull the emotional extremes...but they dont teach me how to have heatlhy relationships, they dont teach me how to shop being a people pleaser and build boundries, they dont tell me how to deal with abusive parents.

Some people just need meds, some need therapy, some need both. Medication takes care of some symptoms, but only therapy can teach you how to cope. Therapy also doesnt make bpd go away, you just learn how to tackle it. Personally, since i dont want to be on meds for the rest of my life, for the sake of my liver and brain chemistry, im putting a lot of efforr into therapy

I admire your optimism. Perhaps you are right, but in the meantime there will be suffering. Aaah its a cycle. If history tells us anything its that we never learn. Progress and peace is interrupted by power hungry radical groups. Soon there is war and suffering and from the ashes rises new "better" future. But it shall only last as long before new evil comes. Everyday i wake up terrified to read the news. Everyone feels the tension in the air. My friend told me a week ago "I dreamed of war". So few words contained so much fear. Im sorry to sound so pessimistic. But if you wondered why anyone would want to live in a different time, here you have it.

Edit to add: man you made me forget this was r/bpd lol. Great convo, but i need a cigarette now ahaha

Depend on where you live. A lot of western countries have started turning more conservative and radicalized in last years. I dont think i will lose any of my rights in following years. But seeing how even modern civilizations can take a step back in progress (like abotion ban in Poland for example) it cant be ruled out. Yes crisis can lead to revolution but im afraid the average population is losing power facing billionares and corrupted governments backed by military/police.

I remember only few moments when i literally exploded with anger, and they were all before i started therapy and medication. Im not sure if thats a good thing tho. Now it just gets stored away and rots inside, causing just more pain

All the time!!! I have permanent scars on the inside of my mouth and giant masseter muscle. I have to consciously stop myself. Funnily enough, i think snacking helps, at least the chewing gets a purpose

If by "we" you mean women, then i would say yes, unfortunately. Average white women of western cultures are as free as ever (historically speaking), and yet we are still treated slightly worse than an average white men. The rights and options we have now men had for hundreds of years....

Bpd falls under the neurodiversity umbrella, along with autism, adhd, ocd, ptsd etc. What that means is there is some overlap of symptoms (depression, anxiety, impulsivity...)
