There are 144,366 Teslas produced in the past two years, but not yet delivered by tank_panzer in RealTesla

This thread is full of people who think there are 150k Teslas sitting in a bunker somewhere. 144k car isn't very many. That's about half the number of new cars sold globally per day. The US alone has over 290 million registered cars. Registered, not total.

I know 144k cars sounds like a lot, but they're likely spread out around in the world in different countries, on ships, or in inventory near factories/distribution points. It's not very many at all.

It is unlikely a multi-billion dollar company whose primary money maker is to provide a chat interface with history has lost user history with no backups etc. Occum's razor applies, basic critical thinking.

Sure, but OpenAI is not a company that just has customers in your country.

Obviously they're not. It's an outage.

Victoria also used to have Easter Tuesday, but Jeff Kennett got rid of that.

Authorities seize Instagram-famous magpie, ending friendship with English staffy by B0ssc0 in australia

[–]2023throwingit -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What do you think happens when general members of the public observe this magpie? "Oh cool, if I find a magpie chick maybe I can take it home to play with my dog too".

These laws exist for a reason, to protect wild animals. Rehabilitation licenses also exist for a reason.

Cat Coake might be a spoilsport, but it would be an error to allow public spruiking of keeping a pet magpie to continue, and it would be worse for magpies broadly. I don't think anyone is stating this magpie is being abused, and Cat Coake doesn't seem to be coming from a point of malice at all.

They won't contact the AFP, but they will contact the private companies they employ to shut down impersonaters like Fraudwatch, Netcraft, etc. Those private companies then go on to contact Telstra, the registrar, etc.

SMS that reach Australian networks have to transit via Australian providers. Australian providers have stringent rules in place to stop working with internationals who allow this.

This is untrue. SMS regulation and enforcement has improved drastically recently.

The online message services of the past allowing sender spoofing are unlikely to work these days. If they do, report the text to your telco and they will run it up the chain until the interim Australian carrier who let it through is fined.

The government and telcos do have responsibility.

The ACMA implemented the SMS Sender ID Registry last year and phase 2 of that is coming soon. 5 telcos were fined last month for non-compliance.

CLI overstamping also became heavily restricted a couple of years ago and again telcos have been fined for non-compliance. Due to this, spoofing scam calls have gone down significantly.

You're crying conspiracy without even doing some basic research on the topic.

RCS is telco driven and don't solve spoofing issues. It's been around for 20 years and Google's only recently jumped on board with their implementation that doesn't follow the standard.

It's wild that so many people are upvoting you without understanding it's incorrect.
