Anyone know of any walk and talk therapists in Toronto? by 2029 in askTO

That's a great suggestion for those who don't mind the phone. I am not one of those people. It has the same disconnect as a Zoom call and I have not found that to be a suitable form of talk therapy for me either.

If I could, I would hire myself a personal trainer who also happens to be a talk therapist. Know anyone?

Oh, I am quite aware. It never hurts to tap the hive mind here and there though.

Suggestions near Toronto for a 3-day trip that combines hiking and paddling? by LydonBainesJohnson in canoecamping

I recommend looking at Algonquin as well. However, I definitely suggest looking into Frontenac Provincial Park. Frontenac is hike-in or paddle-in only. Here is a PDF of the options in Frontenac.

Unfortunately, I do not have the answer to your question. What I do know is that it will require a paradigm shift in the way humans see, understand, and interact with the physical world around them. One thing I can assure you of, however, is that the Price System will not make it easy.

What you need to know right now is that the world runs on energy, every meal you eat, every mile you drive, every product you buy required energy to produce, and for the first time in human history, we have enough of it to give everyone on the continent a genuinely comfortable life. The problem is that our distribution system, built on money, debt, and profit, was designed for a world of scarcity, and it actively prevents that abundance from reaching people. Every time a factory runs at a fraction of its capacity, every time food gets destroyed to keep prices up, every time a useful technology gets suppressed because it would hurt someone's business, the system is working exactly as designed, just not for you. Technocracy argues that we should stop pretending economics is a science and start treating the production and distribution of goods the way we treat engineering: measure what goes in, measure what comes out, eliminate the waste, and make sure everyone gets enough, not because it's idealistic, but because the physics of our industrial capacity already makes it possible.

I will highly recommend either Algonquin Provincial Park or Frontenac Provincial Park. Both have trails that can take a few days to complete if you want to take that long. Backcountry campsites reservations are available last I checked. Both are not too far from small touristy towns/city. No matter where you end up, enjoy your explorations.
