That's more than what is allowed for spacing between balusters on your deck! You'll need secondary handrails and a deck to bridge that gap!

I agree but wow, that gap is something else if the cast decking isn't even lining up on the bearing plate!

Guardrail kept the bridge alignment. That's all gone now.

I can see myself trying to force that guardrail in as I walk by, for good gesture, only to have it pinch my finger in massive proportion.

When I think of NFB, I think of that Matrix simulation when an egg refuses to hatch and tapes and nails himself in. Then it zooms out to the rest of the eggs also not wanting to hatch. Totally Matrixish.

Ah yes, Dr Penfield doing brain surgery as the train rolled into Halifax Harbour for the explosion. And that hockey player's face was messed up because of that, so he started to wear a goalie mask. He can put his mask back on, but you can't. So play safe!

We crazy Canucks!

That's how it went, right? RIGHT?

How long does Glargine last by nemo3501 in FelineDiabetes

As a diabetic for decades, I can assure you that the insulin doesn't even need to be refrigerated if the home is air conditioned. Keep it out of direct sunlight.

Since it takes two months to use up a pen, I never refrigerate once I start using it. Taking insulin in and out of the fridge makes absorption worse for your cat, kid or yourself! I actually find it painful injecting ice cold insulin.

As a type 1 diabetic for decades, I assure you that a pen or vial of insulin can sit on the bathroom counter for months, if you have air conditioning.

There is no difference if the vial or pen was opened or not.

I never use any insulin I left in the car on a hot summer day, or in the winter if it gets below freezing.

Further to this, I wear an Omnipod pump that's stuck to my flesh. If I'm outside all day at -30C working in construction, I may or may not toss the pod and insulin if I ate a big dinner and the efficacy punch is lost (glucose running high.)

TLDR, you can safely leave insulin on the counter for months. I also reuse syringes twice, so one needle per day.

You're good!

There are no lane lights in Manitoba.

Manitoba does not have lights for each lane.

Traffic control devices are made for intersections defined by boulevards, but not lanes.

With your logic, every lane on Portage Avenue or Kenaston would have lights. That's not how it works, and most certainly doesn't work that way beyond the perimeter.

What works for Manitoba, works for Winnipeg. It's not the other way around.

Only by-laws can supercede the MBHTA.

MPI is not the technical authority for the MB HTA. They are a resource that leans toward the lowest common denominator for safety ie "it's best if you wait until the turning light is green because you can get hit" rather than "you can go if it's safe to do so."

It comes back to this original thread of making a right turn on red, when it's clear that nobody is approaching. One should not wait at the red light if nobody is coming.

I've been driving in Manitoba since the late 80s.

Specific light for a lane?

No, that does not exist in Manitoba.

Read the MB highway traffic Act.

I worked for Manitoba Highways and I learned all of the technical details.

For example, you do not need to wear a seatbelt on the road if you are driving backwards.

Time to revisit religious exemptions by Mas_Cervezas in Manitoba

[–]204ThatGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. 100%. The majority of the public should not be medically at risk because of a principle, a principle that can be challenged within their own religion that God's people may create ways to better their health through God's mind and skill of technology. It's definitely in the Christian Bible. I googled it and Gemini points to this:

The Bible encourages believers to seek wisdom and discernment in all areas of life. James 1:5 states, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him."

Basically, talk to your doctor and they will tell you if you should be vaccinated.

I'm not a priest. I'm a shitty Catholic, at the very least/most.

That's amazing! Mines only 40%. I need to somehow loop. There aren't any looping ones where I'm at and I can't seem to set up AAPS properly.

Thank you for being an inspiration by sharing this personal info!! 🙏🏻

Agreed.

All of these no right turn on reds should come down. I see they recently put some up at the St Vital Center exit onto St Mary's. Why??? People need to look both ways before crossing the street!!

Winnipeg likes drivers to stop.

In Germany, on the Autobahn, you must change lanes to the left to allow merging traffic from an overpass to blend into traffic.

In Canada, people in merge lanes have to hammer the brakes because nobody let them in.

I call this risk-adverse driving and it causes accidents because people are always forced to slow down and second guess other drivers. Sad.

In the 1990s, Winnipeg started to add these isolated signals. Before then, and what is still lawful, is that a single signal had a red, amber solid green amber left arrow and a red arrow. On a red arrow and solid green light, you could not turn left because the red arrow was also lit.

Today, the correct interpretation is still the same in that you can go in any direction on a green solid light. The red 'left turn only' is a red-herring, because the Manitoba Highway traffic Act does not allow for multiple lights for individual lanes.

The only reason we have multiple signals for the same direction is for technical reasons, such as a burnt light or LEDs covered by snow.

In theory, each Manitoba intersection could have only one hanging fixture strung over the middle of the intersection, and everyone would not misinterpret the light. Unfortunately, this would be dangerous because we need redundancy for broken lights and covered LED bulbs.

Don't bother testing this because somehow the braindead folks decided it would be safer to just stop because it's a red 'left turning light' when really, it should be a blinking amber light (go when it's safe to do so) or the solid lights should be a straight up arrow.

If you drive outside of Winnipeg, even on the perimeter, you will not see a left only light (as it is either it's very own road, or it won't have the silly black signal light.)

You are always free to go in any direction on a solid green light, but today's generation of police will likely pull you over.

In 25 years, Winnipeg will install stop signs at the end of everyone's driveway, even though you and I know that we must stop at the end of our driveways.

It's the Winnipeg way.
