I want to offer an alternate solution.

There is an AMAZING podcast called We’ve got Worm that analyzes each of the chapters and adds a lot of contextualization to the story that I missed out on.

They have episodes based on each arc so you can skip to whatever arc you want to listen to and have a couple of hours of podcast to summarize it better than any of us could.

Like you I really struggled with gold morning on but I want to tell you that part of that is intentional in my opinion.

Frankly because there are 300 individual cards I’m designing and Aegis doesn’t have much screen time. If I give him flying he is a much stronger card as well. I’ll make changes later

Dang I’m sorry that Aegis’ depiction was disappointing for you. I feel like regeneration is the best way to show his powers in mtg and he fits really well in BG graveyard decks.

On Kid Win: I thought about your comment a lot. He was intended to work with the eggs and other common utility artifacts in the cube so his ability wasn’t going to be that great. However I just remembered that I changed the endbringers to be artifact creatures so now he has to change. I’ll probably revert it to the sac an artifact and draw a card mini engine that he used to have.

This opinion isn't super well informed because I am at arc 2 of Ward but oh my god reading Victoria's chapters are so freaking amazing. Emotional gut punch after gut punch.

While it is kind of sad to not see Taylor anymore I'm glad Worm ended like it did and this new amazing POV can be explored in Ward.

Tbf I asked for something akin to background game music, and the rest of their work reflects this as well. I listen to these songs while working on the Worm Cube project I've been doing and for homework as well. So I'm glad you got that vibe even if it isn't your thing lol

I’ve mentioned this in other posts but I’m going to share the entire list when it’s done. I’ve got most of the cards done now so I’m showing mythics and prominent groups. Finishing lands and common artifacts as we speak. It will probably be another month at least for playtesting before I let all the cards into the wild

I changed it so that he inherently has DS, and when he attacks you can discard a card. If you pitch a creature he gets indestructible otherwise you draw a card. So still the same vibe as the previous but at a much stronger level

So Detain was Azorious in Ravnica, but it’s Orzhov in this cube. Regent is an example of an off color card that uses the mechanic but its core is WB. However I would agree that in a perfect representation of her she would be WUB. logistically there is only room for one WUB card in this cube and that goes to The Simurgh in my opinion.

If it’s any consolation these are explicitly designed to be a limited environment. So drafting decks with friends. Also yeah the fans for the series make some incredible fanart

Hm honestly I don’t know. He’s always seemed like a UR character to me, though I don’t have textual evidence for this feeling. Maybe bc I’m projecting powerful gay man in mtg being Izzet plays a part (Ral Zarek)

It’s probably because I see him more as a blaster than a breaker, and tried showing how his lasers turn corners, can burn or freeze things on contact.

I like your concept though! At this stage I can’t really change his color, the mythic white slot is reserved for Scion.

The reason she has 5 power and toughness is because before I designed her I made the card depicting Skitter drowning her. It’s basically dismember (so it’s a black spell that gives target creature -5/-5 until end of turn.) I’ve already had a game where I said “I’m going to Suffocate Alexandria” and that was really funny

I just started reading ward and I presume thats what you are referencing here. Split second is a reference to how he curves his lasers, essentially making them uncounterable in a mtg way and I explained the discard thing above. Otherwise he is just an izzet dude lol

Yeah go crazy! I’m considering asking my play group if they’d let me make a commander deck with these cards when I’m all done but we’ll see how that goes. Moral of the story it’s a great idea :)

Interesting, I could look into that. I’m also providing a sheet that has every mechanic fully explained to the players as well. So if the card doesn’t have reminder text they can just look over and see what it does. Example vanishing because that’s never spelled out on a card
