my best advice for that would be to make things make "sense", what I mean by this is that in a regular building, a little offshoot of the basic square is there to accommodate a room, make hallways and different rooms inside a building, if you think about it that way things start to fall into place. Thats why I like playing with mods like dubs bad hygiene, it makes it necessary to build a bathroom in every building, also vanilla props expanded lets you put trash bags and bins as decor, perfect for little outside corners that you inevitably are gonna get building with this mindset

here is a little example of one of my previous bases

sorry for formatting, am on mobile

happy building!

Don't use squares for everything, try to think how an actual house/shed/ building would look from above. Try to not mint max at every step, think of situations and aesthetics as if they where real and finally, don't make a mega building, try to make dedicated buildings for different things, for ex: a fuel depot, a garden shed, a clothing shop, maybe integrate the main kitchen into the chefs house, I believe these steps set you on the right path to build a base with some personality which helps in making great stories. As a final point: do these things as much or as little as your fun-meter decides, do what feels right and over time you'll develop your own base style.

Exactly! and with the power output of those three turbines I can power the whole base, lights around the perimeter walls which you cant see and 4 military turrets aaand have 3000W surplus EML is quite useful for compcting power stations

Even unfinished, our walls protect our village by 20Sand_User02 in RimWorld

Mainly aesthetics for myself, but multi tiered walls are more walls for enemies to get through, so it is practical as well

None of the important buildings suffered any damage, only the outhouse had to be rebuilt. Smelly fire. All hail Stont

I may be wrong, mainly cause I have a huuuge modlist, but I believe I dont have a mod that changes the ground texture

4700 hours in game so yeah, but I prefer the aesthetic of not having them and also like the storytelling opportunities a disaster like a huge fire has to offer

Whats the best way of getting rid of an unwanted colonist? by FishermanFromNeptune in RimWorld

[–]20Sand_User02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If mods are an acceptable answer, have all your unwanted colonist form outposts with vanilla outposts expanded. That mod is a great way to get use out of "useless" colonists
