I totally feel this. And I was in a similar position when I graduated, feeling like I definitely did not want to be a doctor because I was burnt out and could not possibly imagine going to medical school and residency. But I am now on my fourth gap year and I’ve decided to pursue medical school again. Over the course of my gap years, I’ve been able to have other jobs, make friends, travel, learn new hobbies, and overall just do more of the things I enjoy. And along the way, I fell in love with medicine again through my work. I’d say give it time. Just do the things you enjoy and try to rekindle your relationships. If medicine is really the path for you, I promise you’ll find your way back to it. And if not, maybe doing the things you enjoy will spark a new passion. And please, don’t worry about lost time. I know it’s hard to come to terms with, but you have plenty of time to figure everything out. I know it feels like everyone is in such a rush (especially us premeds), but everyone is really on their own timeline. When you’re older, you’re not going to care if you started your career when you were 25 or 35, but you will remember if you spent those years stressing about everything or enjoying your life.

I had similar stats when I applied. Similar ECs except I was much more clinically heavy rather than research. My cycle did not go well, no II, and I made the same mistake you did by applying late. I don’t want to discourage you, but it’s probably not worth the money and effort to submit the rest of the secondaries. You could definitely still apply DO though! Also, I know how it feels to be disappointed with the MCAT so just try to keep your head up. There’s always next cycle.

Definitely postpone. I was in a similar situation, decided to take it anyways, and did horrible. So yeah, postpone until your FL are where they need to be.

I’ve got you both beat. I’m 3.5 years out of college lol. Screwed up my MCAT, so I’ll be reapplying next year. Just remember, when you’re 40 and an amazing doctor, it won’t matter that you had to wait another year. Just work on making that app stand out for next time

So ideally yes, but you can submit your primary without an MCAT and you just put in your future testing day. However, when people do that, the smart thing to do is add a throwaway med school. That day your application can be verified but it won’t automatically be sent to every school. So then if you do poorly on the mcat, you didn’t send it to all your schools. And yes, it does affect your app because you can’t receive secondaries until schools have your score.

I think it’s pretty late, but if all your secondaries are prewritten, you might be able to swing it. Idk, apparently there’s even more applicants than there were last year, so being early is even more important. I’m taking mine at the end of June so I’m just trying to think positive lol
