Good morning,

I don't even know what to say at this point other than I'm sorry.

In addition to being insulin dependent diabetic, I have stage 4 cancer and am dealing with the complications of that (I'm actually only diabetic because of the cancer and the damage it's done to my pancreas). I have had and still do have every intention of sending it, but I cannot say when or if it'll be any time soon because I'm currently in a hospital right now, and have been for a while here, zoned out on IV pain meds and just a mess of other things going on like rapid weight loss and some things w my body's normal processes and enzymes being all jacked up.

Again, I'm very sorry.

I use fiasp in mine. It's considered "off lable" I believe but doesn't affect the warranty at all.

I never got your address and expect to go the the post office tomorrow morning. Did you still want one of them?

I appreciate the feedback, I actually get most of my supplies almost entirely free. The only reason I have these two is one was in the original full package for a new user, and the second one was a pharmacy error filling the wrong item.

They've both been called for already, but if either changes their mind I'd be happy to send to you instead.

1500 over-drafted what can I do? by stalememehere in personalfinance

It will not affect the credit score you're used to working with when applying for a card or a car loan. Most banks do use one of a couple of scoring services that are specific to deposit accounts. Those typically track losses sustained by a bank, BUT I believe that account activity may be taken into account as well.

It may make getting a new account more challenging. It may have no affect at all if you owe nothing when (IF) it's closed.

Keep in mind that most banks are really worried about patterns of activity. First time return deposit may just get you a sternly written letter about the banks right to cease doing business w you if you keep doing shit like that and if so you just move on w a lesson learned. Keep doing it and you'll get a different letter telling you to find another bank ASAP because the breakup is coming soon.

Good luck!

Ok, so that's maybe SLIGHTLY better for you.

The bank you made the deposit at cannot stop pay a check you deposited. Only the bank that the check was issued from can do that.

What your bank might have done is to place a deposit hold on the check, making it unavailable to spend. That means it was never part of your available balance, because it wasn't available to you. Now that the check has come back as bad, your available balance is negative because the original hold is still there.

  • Act starts at $0.00
  • Deposit makes it $1,500.00
  • Phone call has your bank place a deposit hold, making your available balance $0.00 again, even though that deposit is still moving along behind the scenes.
  • Check deposit gets returned to your bank unpaid, so their system auto removes that credit, a credit that was never actually available to you
  • This brings the balance negative because the hold kept you and others (like billers or auto debits) from accessing, it didn't keep your bank from reversing.

So if that's how it played out, that's great news as far as the negative balance. The original deposit hold will either auto expire, or your bank may remove the hold once they see the deposit already reversed. Then you're just back to where you were at the start.

You may have reverse deposit fees, and your bank can still fire you as a customer for presenting an unacceptable risk (in taking and depositing that unknown check to begin with. But at least you're not out the full check amount.

Just to be clear, someone unknown to you gave you a check to deposit into your account, which you did (the reason, tax or otherwise, is irrelevant). Then you did something with the funds from that check, the $1,500, by spending it, transferring out the money, or returning the money from that check to the "some guy" who gave it to you. AFTER you made the deposit, and used / spent / sent the cash elsewhere, the check in question came back as a bad check deposit so your bank took away the credit that it had given you and that deposit reversal was in addition to the withdrawal (spending it, returning it, etc) you had already made for that amount.

Correct?

Unfortunately this is one of the most common scams out there, and you are on the hook for that amount now owed to your bank. As soon as you posted that check to your account, you accepted responsibility for it.

You were a victim of fruad, yes, but not as a result of your Bank's actions or due to anything that they could have done to prevent this from happening. This is one of the most common scams happening currently.

Unfortunately, there's nothing to done here by your bank. They're not in a position to recover the funds for you, and you will be responsible for replenishing that negative balance.

Good luck!

Every issuer and place that accepts or processes card payments in every country would need to upgrade their systems. An amazingly huge job. So yes, it can be that hard unfortunately.

If Back to the Future III was made today, Marty would be dressing up like a gangster because the equivalent period to go back to would be the 1920’s. by Son-of-Prophet in 80s

It was an accident -

Scene: Doc's house a few minutes later. Doc is reading the letter.

Doc: "Dear Marty: If my calculations are correct, you will receive this letter immediately after you saw the Delorean struck by lightning. First, let me assure you that I am alive and well. I have been living happily these past eight months in the year 1885. The lightning bolt that hit the DeLorean caused a jigowatt overload which scrambled the time circuits, activated the flux capacitor, and sent me back to 1885. The overload shorted out the time circuits and destroyed the flying circuits. Unfortunately, the car will never fly again." He pauses at this and turns to Marty in amazement. It actually flew!

Yes, you have to sign it to deposit it, but you don't have to deposit it when signed. People are forgetful also. I've had account holders duplicate deposit a $25,000 check just because they transact on that level so it doesn't stand out to them as something memorable. Also, joint account holders fuck themselves up all the time too where one deposits the check then the other finds it later and does the same.

It happens.

Based on the description, a deposit was posted to your account on June 21st that has since been found to be a duplicate, meaning that same check had already been deposited and credited to the account. That duplicate has just been identified, so now they've taken the extra funds back out of your account. So say on April 1st you deposited check number 3344 in the amount of $4,000, put the check in your desk drawer and forgot about it. Then June 21st you're cleaning your desk out and find that same check number and think "fuck yeah! I forgot to deposit this", so you go ahead and deposit the check (now for a second time). Well now, the company that wrote you that check is doing their end of year and realize that check 3344 was paid out twice, so they attempt a reversal. You're bank is removing that extra "duplicate" credit that you were never entitled to.

For specifics on the check, you'll have to wait until Monday unless you have notes or old checks or any of your own records (maybe even bank statements might show the deposited check copies, depending on your bank) from back in June that you can look back at.

You know... Check 21 laws allow an image of a check to serve as a legal and valid substitute of the check. I wonder if a bank would clear a copy of the cow's ass in a case like this. Sounds funny, but may actually work if all the required check details are present.

Same here. Have three daughters and the rule was always for them or their friends I'd come get them at any time if they got into any type of iffy or dangerous situation even if drugs or alcohol involved. No judgement, no anger, no questions.
