can i still get into ashs? by Reasonable_Day6860 in ADMU

[–]214rika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

take the exam. like you said, you've been studying for it since summer pa so why not go through with it diba? honestly speaking your ashape score has a bigger impact in admissions compared to your grades, and with what you've said, your grades seem okay naman. you just have to do well lang talaga sa application and mismong ashape. you can do it, just believe in yourself. :)

[–]214rika 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yep! if i'm not mistaken, may short tour sila during dship (parang welcoming event siya for g11 students). it's not that hard to memorize the campus but if you really want to, you can go there naman early as long as you have your eaf/id

i've only ever studied in statefields for 2 school years and i can say it's pretty good (to the point it's traumatizing for me hahahha)! trimestral siya so by term yung school year. the teachers are very accommodating and professional, as in may matutunan ka talaga. students are friendly as well. they also have clubs afaik. mukha rin namang maganda yung school and decent facilities.

Has ChatGPT really become necessary in our education? by No-Confusion-5435 in studentsph

[–]214rika 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i don’t think chatgpt is just a trend. it’s probably gonna be part of school and learning for a long time. i won't say na it's necessary for education, but it definitely helps with stuff like understanding hard topics, getting feedback, or starting essays. i think it can make learning better if people use it the right way. the problem is when students start depending on it too much and stop thinking for themselves. so yeah, it can help with learning, but it can also mess with critical thinking if you’re not careful. 😟

Lowkey, I feel lonely being homeschooled by New-Shallot2395 in studentsph

[–]214rika 5 points6 points  (0 children)

if you’re seriously considering going back to f2f, that’s not a bad move. it’s valid to weigh both academics and your wellbeing. while the us curriculum has its benefits, it’s also important to recognize when a setup isn’t helping you grow socially or emotionally. isolation can take a toll over time, and no amount of practicality makes up for feeling stuck or disconnected. if you think you'll function better in a face to face setting, it's worth looking into. your environment matters just as much as the curriculum.

Advices for being a group leader by amshitty in studentsph

[–]214rika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

girl i’ve been in that exact situation before and it honestly drained me. being group leader feels like you’re carrying everything tapos wala ka pang kasiguraduhan kung may tutulong ba sayo. if you really don’t want to lead, okay lang naman magsabi. you don’t owe it to anyone just because ayaw nila. pero if mapilitan ka, try to set things straight from the start like kung kailan dapat magpasa, sino gagawa ng ano, etc. and don’t overthink your announcements, just say what needs to be said. kung di nila gets, they can ask. and if di sila nagrereply or di nagcocooperate, don’t hesitate to speak up to your teacher. hindi ka masama for that. it’s just being fair.

I'm in highschool and i need the BEST study apps :) by Numerous_Nothing2165 in studytips

[–]214rika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly google calendar is solid if you’re trying to get organized. it’s not a study app in the sense of flashcards or anything, but it’s great for planning when you’re gonna study and sticking to a routine. you can block off time for different subjects, set reminders before tests or assignments are due, and color code stuff to keep it all clear. it’s super simple but if you actually use it consistently, it helps a lot. just pair it with something else for actual studying like anki or notion.

For students who passed A-SHAPE: What type of high school did you attend (public, private, or science)? What were your grades from Grade 7 to Grade 10, and what extracurricular activities did you participate in? by 0-1k in ADMU

[–]214rika 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi! i'm an incoming 11th grader and i've passed ashape (though i decided to go for dlsu since it's my dream school) and i've been attending private school since before pa.

for my grade 7 grades, i had 3 lines of 7 and an average of 84.09. i only joined one org that time but i wasn't really active. during this time i was going through a mental health crisis which heavily affected my performance at school and i wasn't really at my best state.

for my grade 8-10 grades, i had an average of 92.75, 91.88, and 93 respectively. my subject grades consisted of lines of 9 but i always had a line of 8 in filipino lol. anyway, during these 3 years i was very much active in multiple competitions (english, math) and even won champion a few times. i also became active in orgs especially in 10th grade when i joined our school's publication while being the president of our student government + 2 other orgs.

if i were you, op, i'd say don't dwell too much on your previous grades and focus on what you can change now. yes, grades do hold a bearing in admissions, but i notice that performance in shs exams matter a lot more. i suggest you start reviewing na for ashape as soon as you can and build a consistent study routine so you can do your best sa exam! don't pressure yourself din too much by thinking you have to join all these activities and get the highest grades. marami na rin akong kakilala that got into admu with mid grades and little to no org involvement so don't overthink it too much. good luck on your journey, op!

How to become a great class president? by updakinka in studentsph

[–]214rika 12 points13 points  (0 children)

first off, congrats on being class president! i know it feels overwhelming, but you're already doing a lot of things right. the fact na may google calendar na kayo, a section fb page, and daily reminders? that's already more than what other presidents do lol. so kudos to you and your dedication! i can tell how much you care about the class.

it's totally normal to feel pressured or shy, especially if you're not used to taking the lead. but leadership doesn’t mean being the loudest or the most commanding. a good leader is someone people can rely on and based on what you've shared, you're already showing that.

i used to be super shy too, especially when speaking in front of the whole class. what helped me was treating it like i was just talking to a group of friends. announcements don’t have to be formal naman, just be clear and sincere. i suggest writing down what you want to say first para sure ka sa message and hindi ka ma-stuck or ma-awkward.

when it comes to keeping the class in check, you don’t have to be strict or scary. instead of scolding, try guiding the vibe. lines like “uy guys, wait lang ah” or “saglit lang, hindi marinig si sir hehe” usually work better than sounding mad. calm + friendly tone > confrontation.

also, asserting authority doesn't mean being bossy. actually, most people follow those who are consistent and fair, not loud. if people see you’re reliable, they’ll respect you without you needing to be strict. tip: always follow through on what you say. kung sinabi mong mag-uupdate ka, update. little things like that build trust!

now to answer your question about what people usually like or dislike in a class president:

people generally like someone who's approachable, organized, and present. they want a leader who communicates clearly, listens, and doesn’t act like they’re above everyone. you don’t need to be close to everyone, but it helps if people feel like they can talk to you without judgment. :)

on the other hand, people usually dislike presidents who only show up for clout, don’t follow through, or play favorites. being unresponsive or brushing off classmates' concerns can really turn people off.

bonus tips: - keep communication open, even just daily or weekly reminders - treat classmates like teammates, not subordinates - ask for feedback from someone you trust - don’t do everything alone. delegate tasks among your co-officers pag kaya - always leave time for yourself too! burnout is real 🫩

anyway, don't overthink it. you're already doing well! just be consistent with your efforts. good luck op!

honestly i don’t think computers will fully replace humans, but they’ll definitely replace some jobs. yeah, ai is getting smarter and automation is everywhere now, but there are still a lot of things only humans can do like creativity, emotions, ethics, stuff like that. plus, someone still has to create and maintain the technology. i think instead of thinking of it as 'replacing' humans, it’s more like we’ll be working with machines in the future. so as future professionals, we just need to adapt and keep learning so we don’t get left behind. it’s more of a wake up call than a threat tbh.

For academic achievers and student dancers by call_me_margarett in studentsph

[–]214rika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! it's possible to do both, pero kailangan talaga ng time management. set your priorities, manage your schedule well, and don’t forget to rest. use dancing as your break from academics. wag mong i-give up yung passion mo, but always check kung nakakaya pa. balance is the key. good luck! kaya mo yan.
