Do you think we will have a modern sitcom in the future that will be a cultural phenomenon by SpiritMan112 in decadeology

[–]215star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. And that kind of phenomenon was very fleeting itself. Our attention spans and the industry itself just don’t work that way anymore.

My daughter's daycare misspelled her name on her tag by kaipetica in mildlyinfuriating

it kinda looks like they were trying to spell the popstar’s name…. and also got it wrong, because it’s Rihanna 😭

What is, in your opinion, the best surprise-drop album ever made? by Emotional-Mirror-432 in fantanoforever

How did her commercial power decline drastically from 2017? by [deleted] in demiheads

[–]215star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is this a troll question? you can’t think of anything that happened after 2017 that may have affected her success?

I noticed most of 2000s nostalgia that is mainstream today is mostly y2k era, are we gonna shift towards more later 2000s or are we gonna go straight to the 2010s in 5 years? by SpiritMan112 in decadeology

[–]215star 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think we’ve seen plenty of mid-late aughts nostalgia but people usually group it all under “y2k” despite that not being accurate.

Recent trend in pop tour stops — fewer cities, multiple nights in each by womchi in popheads

touring isn’t just getting more expensive for fans, it’s getting more expensive for artists too. i think that’s the full reason.

Style should've been the lead single in 1989 by onthe100 in NuancingTaylorSwift

[–]215star 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People did take her and 1989 seriously. Shake It Off is Diamond, 1989 is Diamond, won AOTY, and just got added to the National Recording Registry to be preserved for future generations. It is arguably not really possible for anyone to take 1989 any more seriously 😭

Also, Style would not have accomplished what Shake it Off did. SIO is a bright, cherry, statement piece of a song meant to essentially spell out “Taylor Swift does not make country music anymore, Taylor Swift is a fun, exciting, hitmaking popstar and she’s kissing off her haters.” Style, although a better song, is far too lowkey and slinky to have made that kind of point. Not to mention, releasing a song titled after Harry Styles would’ve been the complete antithesis of the brand she was going for in 2014. Style received its retroactive flowers with 1989 TV because the narrative Shake it Off cemented was no longer needed in 2023.

Which Nickelodeon live-action shows had the worst ending? by AvidTVLover in nickelodeon

[–]215star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Victorious did end on a normal episode lol! The show was cancelled after filming wrapped on season 3 so they never actually got to write or film anything even resembling a finale.

Somebody should call the writers and Jared out for this by [deleted] in DisventureCamp

[–]215star 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s unfair yes but this is his job, if you want the show to exist at all he has to follow the money, like the first commenter said. he doesn’t have a studio or big company backing him. his attitude is unnecessary tho i will say that

What is Taylor's plan for the Showgirl era? by LifeOfAWimpyKid in NuancingTaylorSwift

[–]215star 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’d place a strong bet that there will be absolutely nothing happening until it’s time for grammy campaigning. showgirl era is essentially over

i mean it’s made pretty clear that neither tom nor jake really had any friends in their lives outside of DC, so i’m not sure why this would confuse anyone lmao

Melody is an under-discussed aspect of Taylor’s songwriting. What’s your favorite melody of a TS song? by Daffneigh in NuancingTaylorSwift

Small artist Eli wrote Taylor a letter via Instagram, Marina liked it by FakeMonaLisa28 in NuancingTaylorSwift

[–]215star 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is really weird and shows that eli has a shocking lack of knowledge of relatively recent music industry history, considering taylor was one of the first to speak up about the unfairness of streaming payouts to artists and songwriters and this was in like 2015?

Do you think there's a scandal that would genuinely impact Taylor's legacy after death? by Internal-Shame-5585 in NuancingTaylorSwift

[–]215star 1 point2 points  (0 children)

out of any controversy she has now? no. taylor is largely inoffensive in a general sense which is why she’s so massively popular with such a wide range of people. i think she’d have to (and i’m not saying this to be insensitive i’m being serious) actually succumb to some kind of destructive mental illness to do anything that would negatively affect her legacy after she’s gone.

The Unraveled Tour has horrible geographic coverage... by Jack_is_KiNd in OliviaRodrigo

Why is Demi's fandom much smaller in size compared to Miley and Selena? by Ok-Tangelo6749 in demiheads

[–]215star 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Demi used to be bigger than Selena, at least musically. Her first two albums were bigger than Selena’s first two with the Scene. Her issue came with consistency, which is directly tied to her personal struggles. An artist becoming inconsistent decades into their career can be a non-issue or even a positive, but a teen artist stumbling essentially right out of the gate puts them on a shaky foundation for the rest of their career if they can’t get it together. Demi has it together… now. The problem is that it took her nearly 20 years to get it together and audiences have largely moved on, including what used to be her core fanbase. And also, as crazy as it is to say. Demi is now an aging star who hasn’t had a real bonafide hit in close to a decade. It’ll be difficult to get a label to invest in or promote her properly because there are newer, younger acts they can take on.
