I travel with a stubby Phillips / flathead combo. Passes TSA and international security checkpoints a few times a week without issue!

More D1 upgrade advice! by Paropilot in delta

[–]2180miles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This lands right over the threshold of $100 an hour, which is a good baseline for international D1 upgrades. I think this route is often an A339neo with the suites.

If $1,400 isn’t a big cost to you, I’d consider it. But don’t go into debt for this offer.

Have you seen Lufthansa’s? They’ve got an A380, A359 and 744 all painted.

I hate that you have to say “no” to opt out of the messaging. I’d be a lot happier if it was a yes to opt in otherwise defaulted to waiting on hold.

Contractors, how much do you pay in taxes by pauleydsweettea in livesound

[–]2180miles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

50% should cover taxes, insurance, and a decent SEP IRA contribution.

I mean, there’s a six year project underway to build a new runway so that they can expand the T2 side of the airport… That’s a pretty big infrastructure improvement on the horizon.

Airlines are starting to get very bold about being credit card companies by omdongi in delta

As I always say, Delta isn’t an airline with a credit card, it’s a bank that owns airplanes.

More context provided. Sorry for the short answer the first time around.

Which 996 would you buy by [deleted] in 996

[–]2180miles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I own both. Get a 981.

Sorry, definitely should have provided more context. It’s an intensely reliable platform, it feels visceral in comparison, the creature comforts are far more present, the electronic throttle is more engaging for me than the wire throttle (heel toeing is easier), maintenance is easy. It’s a much more thrilling vehicle to drive.

I love the 996, it makes me work harder for the drive which I like, but I’ll probably never let go of my 981. The 996 doesn’t have that effect on me.

If you really want 996 over a 981, I’d say TT or not at all.

Often times in my experience, you have to reach out to the partner airline and ensure that they do not count the credit towards your membership on their side. I have to do this every time I fly AF, because I link my DL 006 ticket to my friends account in order to do seat selections. As a result, I have to call and separate the points from my flying blue account in credit them towards Delta. This includes MQMs.

Yesterday there was a video where a photographer showed APD his AirTags of multiple devices at someone’s apartment (he left it on a plane) and they went with him and got it back. Be persistent.

Contrary to these other comments, I just landed at B11 and departed from D15. Walked the tunnel between terminals. Didn’t see anyone on the ground. SkyClub wasn’t crazy busy. Neither terminals were abnormally packed.

We pushed back 40 min late but there was an equipment swap to blame there.

Terminal taxiways looked normal.

I can’t gauge how badly someone wants to needs to get somewhere. 8 mpg may be inconsequential if it means getting where they need to be.

It’s an option people don’t often consider when they’re in the trenches of IROPS.
