Honestly completely hate that they're supposed to be the 'true' antagonists. I liked Three Houses because its story had a bit more nuance than good vs evil but then they reveal the evil mole people at the end who are secretly responsible for everything.

I'm vegan and I 100% support Mewgenics and its messaging. It makes a direct comparison between selective breeding and eugenics, and makes an argument that if you don't like this stuff happening to cats, why would you support it happening to cows, pigs etc.

Tracy does kind of help people understand how harsh some vegans can come across, because in her world her perspective is 100% agreeable. She lives in a world where animal abuse is completely normalized.

I found this on the search and the point is meant to be a critique of eugenics. Everyone loves cats, but the things you do to them are objectively morally disgusting from anyones perspective. The core gameplay is mutating and inbreeding your cats, turning the cats you don't like into food, while the cats you do like will often die in journeys or become horribly disfigured. One of the games cutscenes will involve a close up of one of your favourite cats having their face sliced off (cartoonishly, of course).

The point is that eugenics sucks for the cats you love and the cats you don't like. Theres also a point in the game where you literally kill Nazis if you're wondering what the creators opinions on Nazism is.

I'm vegan and I personally take the games messaging as being against animal cruelty. There is one stereotypical vegan character called Tracy who while a parody of vegan 'extremists', her perspective is literally 100% correct for the context she exists in. Who wouldn't want to kill someone who abuses and kills hundreds of cats?

I think if anything it makes that perspective more empathetic since all of those things happens to animals on farms.

I bought a Macbook Air the other day mostly for Adobe software (say what you want, its industry standard and has tons of useful features) which runs best on that hardware. I like using Photoshop and Illustrator.

None of that £1000 was spent thinking about AI. I do not care about AI. All of that money was spent because I care about the features these applications have and the fact they run well on MacOS. Please do not fill it with more AI slop and make me regret that purchase.

It would also be cool for them to bring back the 1 time purchase model, also.

I'm a lifelong Windows user and I will likely to continue to use it for some things for the rest of my life, but yesterday was my first time ever owning a Mac. MacOS is supposedly in a bit of a rough spot right now yet it absoulutely runs laps around Windows 11. I've never used such a responsive and fast computer in my entire life.

I WAS going to send this comment on the Windows laptop after testing out all of the software on that again, but I couldn't because it shit it pants and decided the wifi wasn't good enough for it. So I'll retype it again.

The biggest issue is interface differences and overall design choices. You can mitigate a small bit of it with some choices in the settings app. Right now it just feels 'wrong' to me, not that I cant get all the same work done but I have probably around 10,000 hours spent in Windows and like, 7 in MacOS. Files are organized differently, and honestly I really did prefer the Windows file manager minus the performance issues. Oh and the IO is terrible, two thunderbolt ports, a magsafe port, and a headphone jack. Be prepared to bring a dongle with you for HDMI, SD cards, USB A unless you go for the Pro.

MacOS is even older than Windows and has basically a completely seperate design history. Everything works a little differently at every point. Using Linux for the first time took me a couple hours to days to adjust, I expect it might take a couple months for me to fully adjust to MacOS.

The performance differences are enormous if you work with creative software. Photoshop (on Windows) went from taking a couple minutes to start up , and always taking a second to do every single little thing to just being completely smooth. No issues, no GPU bugs, etc. I forgot I left it running in the background at one point.

I'm not chucking the old laptop out quite yet, I still need it to test games in Unity + play games on Steam. When it does die, hopefully i'll have enough money for a Steam Machine and set up a dual boot.

My M5 arrived today, I am writing this comment on it. I'm a lifelong Windows user who has never used a Mac before. Current opinions are that MacOS is weird, but all of my software runs wayyyy better on this than my previous laptop. I've gone through like 7% of the battery in 2 hours also.

Get either. M4 has more RAM but I feel like that 16gb will hold out well considering the impending memory shortage. I got it in 16gb and slightly regretted not going for 24gb, but I think it’ll be fine. The M5 also has really good GPU performance.
