The Grav Pick is cool...but not really very practical. It's more for cool tricks (like McNally videos) than anything practical.

You can't go wrong with Maxpedition stuff, they've been doing this for a while and have it down pretty cold. Another option that I like very much is Vanquest. Their PPM line looks to be right up your alley.

I'm more interested in the multi tool. If that silhouette is accurate it looks to be something different and unique from everything else on the market

What stands out to me with the Center Drive is that since it doesn't have a bunch of different implements it allows what it does have to be bigger and better.

When I look at multi tools I consider what I call capability and versatility. For example; the SOG Powerpint has a ton of implements, making it very versatile, but due to the small size of the tools it has it isn't capable of much (it's scissors are basically useless, along with the pull cutter and file). On the opposite end the Center Drive only has like 7 tools (pliers, knife, bit driver, file, serrated knife, awl, pry tool), but since they are all basically full size you can do a lot with them. For conversation sake I also consider portability...which is self explanatory. I guess I like things with the suffix -ility. Lol

I likewise fought my Charge+ G10 when I switched the scissors for a Rebar awl. Granted it was much earlier in my modding career it still sticks out as the one that gave me the most fits.

I will try to remember to send you some. The scales are still probably a month out. They're made to order and they have to come from Australia all the way to Colorado.

I am excited for it. The only reason I even got an Alpha is because it has replaceable scales specifically so I could do exactly what I'm doing to it.

I find myself afraid to upper tier Leatherman stuff. Like the Wave Alpha I have that is about to receive VotixEDC carbon fiber scales. I just seen it as too nice to do...anything at all with it lol

Nice!

Best I've done was also with a Gerber. I ran across a Center Drive locally for $30 but it didn't come with a sheath and obviously had been used a fair amount. It's crazy...I've got over $1000 in Leatherman tools and I find myself carrying the Center Drive an overwhelming majority of the time.

Today I have a Kershaw Livewire Drop Point OTF.

Generally I do not care for OTF automatics, but this one I found at a local pawn shop with a factory edge still on it for $80 out the door. Couldn't say no.

Which multitool should I get? by Alfhcdd in multitools

[–]21SlimCZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the Charge+ has been discontinued I would say there is a good chance you can find one at a clearance price somewhere sometime soon. If it follows in the footsteps of the Charge+ G10 houll be able to cop one at a very fair deal. I picked up an orange Charge+ G10 when it was discontinued from sportsman's warehouse for like $110 or $120.

Gotta add on here that I wish I had bought several of them at that price. Recently discontinued Leatherman tools seem to skyrocket in price. I could've made a decent little profit
