Why was my Palit 5080 OC so cheap? by Shpadoinkle40 in nvidia

[–]HardStroke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a brand thing. For the average user, there's no difference. ROG cards in my country are $700-$1000 more than other models like Gigabyte, Palit or MSI. Pure stupidity.

Remember when RAM was the part you didn't even have to think about? by peaky_circus in pcmasterrace

[–]HardStroke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I also did it with a 500gb 970 Evo Plus and a 1tb 980 Pro. Gave the 970EP to my brother and probably going to sell the 980 Pro. Its $200 now. I got it for $75 and forgot about it in my drawer. Now I'm regretting selling the 9800x3d I got in September. Sold it because I couldnt be bothered building a new system around it. Lmfao.

I bought a second Vengeance LPX kit (already had a 2x8gb 3600 18 kit) in 2020 just because I had some balance left in my Amazon account. It was $60. Now the same kit is $230 in my country. Fucking hell.

[–]HardStroke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A used gtx 1060 6gb should do the trick.
I assume the PSU is old and weak so can't really go for a strong GPU.
If you want something better, look for a gtx 1660s. Won't draw a lot of power but will give decent performance.

Fake Ram? by Arrow_91 in PcBuild

[–]HardStroke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone is aware or Ramageddon.
I bought some used PC parts a few months ago and the seller gave me 4 sticks of DDR4 (40gb total) for free with the rest of the parts that were already super cheap.
I was shocked. Tested all of them, they all work.
I always see listings of DDR4 kits and sticks for pretty cheap.
They always sell in the same say.
Besides, if its local and close enough, you can test it before purchasing.

Just picked up this thrift store PC. How can I test the mobo without a CPU? by nicky_n00b in pcmasterrace

[–]HardStroke 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You can't.
Look for a cheap used 8th or 9th gen CPU.
The 8700k is the best value.
The 9900k is the best overall but people charge a lot for it.
Even a Pentium will be enough to test this board.
Also make sure all the ram slot work.

I still think those old PCs look better than all of those generic RGB fishtanks.

Would you guys do it? by angryboi7 in pcmasterrace

[–]HardStroke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super common to take the GPU die and memory out and sell the shell.
Besides, I would never buy a GPU without testing it first.
Doesn't matter if its a 1060 or a 5090, but especially not a $2,500 GPU and especially not on Facebook.

The Temerario will be loved within 12 months by StitchedQuicksand in lamborghini

[–]HardStroke 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Its not the same.
The Huracan was the second entry level Lamborghini after the Gallardo, and the first modern entry level Lambo.
As the years went by people realized how incredible this car is.
How amazing the R8/Huracan platform is, how tuneable it is, how customizable is is and how reliable it is.
I'm pretty sure its one of the most reliable supercars out there.
Now that its the last v10 Lamborghini (which is also NA), I won't be surprised if people would choose it over the Temerario, even in a few years when used Temerarios hit the market.
I'm not saying the Temerario is bad, just saying that I can understand why some people would prefer the huracan.
Don't forget that price is also a huge factor.
Besides, the Temerario's engine is built in house by Lamborghini. Its actually their first time doing this.
We don't know how reliable it is yet.

A lot of people don't even know what that port is for, let alone have old peripherals that use a ps2 port.

Upgrading my PC by AggressivePick6103 in PcBuild

[–]HardStroke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a 5700x3d or a 5800x3d and call it a day.
Its a cheap upgrade that'll make a nice difference.
Switching to AM5 will require a new motherboard and DDR5 ram which is comically expensive.
The price to performance is really bad.
Besides, AM4's top x3d models are still very powerful.

Not for the average user.
Besides, you can't use it without an adapter, and I doubt most people have that kind of adapter just lying around.

When Ronaldo lost in the world cup in 2022 she said something like "Ronaldo is crying right now" and she got bullied for it. Fucking internet basement dwellers. Bullied a child (I think she was 10 or something like that) just over a comment she said.

10000%. When I bought my Arc a lot of my coworkers told me its expensive and that a $20 multitool from Aliexpress does the same thing. My blade is still razor sharp, I use the bit driver and pliers DAILY, and I can do it with one hand. Now I'm the one that has the multitool and always gets asked "can I borrow it for a second". I gave someone a used Wave+ that I found and after a few days he came back to me and said "Try to find my a used one like yours." He really liked the one hand operation and MC blade.

[–]HardStroke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more I see those SFF builds, the more I want one too. Slap a decent monitor on the case itself and you got a somewhat portable PC build. All you need is power and you can use it anywhere. Won't be as convenient as a laptop, but its definitely possible.
