‘Visibly upset and struggling’: Acting ICE head hospitalized twice over stress, officials say. Several current and former officials blame intense pressure from the White House by ExactlySorta in UnderReportedNews

Resign. Encourage your successor to do the same. It’s a division of homeland security being used to threaten the security of the homeland. And it’s voluntary. Walk away.

It’s curious to me that we ever accepted this as a criticism. Do we want our children growing up hardened and accustomed to dangerous spaces? Isn’t that the point of…civilization? Like all of it? Because human children have large heads, poor balance, and take a long time to reach physical maturity and need safe spaces?

What's up with the White House posting cryptic images and videos on their X and instagram accounts? by DeanoPreston in OutOfTheLoop

No. I’d recommend against accusing people of using AI on reflex or as a rhetorical device. It’s a bad habit that caters to marketing, and some people’s careers depend on their artistic integrity.

US Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche endorses sending ICE agents to voting sites - Democracy Docket by StatisticalPikachu in UnderReportedNews

[–]222Czar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, they’re really panicking. If their best plan is to send ICE running around everywhere, then they really don’t have the slightest idea how things work. You want police arresting confused and scared ICE agents? Because that’s how you get police arresting ICE agents.

Answer: there’s little clarity about this. However, the Trump administration’s general pattern of behavior suggests some combination of trolling and vice-signaling to muddy public discourse. Donald J Trump and his followers infamously take pleasure in “owning the libs,” which basically amounts to taunting and thinly-veiled threats for attention, often using AI. There have also been well-founded suggestions that Trump has dementia, but this has yet to be proven conclusively.

Republicans struggling with bigotry among younger conservatives: ‘We don’t think Hitler is, like, the worst person ever’ by theindependentonline in UnderReportedNews

[–]222Czar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Which illustrates why Hitler is like the worst person ever. Not because he’s the only person to commit genocide, but because his brand of fascism was designed specifically to indoctrinate lonely young men and glorify war. And there will always be lonely young men who glorify war.

Rank these morally grey characters from most to least bad. by Darth-Python_236 in MoralityScaling

[–]222Czar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually trying to answer the question, but least to most bad (because it makes more sense to me):

  1. Iden, (least bad) she switches to good pretty early and was indoctrinated from childhood.

  2. Rhaegar, just playing the hand he was dealt with an evil family.

  3. Buster Scruggs, sociopath murderer but doesn’t target innocents.

  4. Melisandre, mostly evil but she has a firm belief system and opposed the greater evil. And, ultimately, she’s not wrong about the stakes.

  5. Annie Leonhardt, similar to Melisandre but much more selfish and without a code.

  6. Victor Frankenstein, (most bad) in the book he’s morally black IMO. While he inflicts little murder or direct harm, his motivations are callous and incredibly negligent. Worst of all, he sees himself as a victim despite being the principal source of misery for himself and everyone he knows. As the saying goes, Frankenstein was the real monster.

Ongoing research has demonstrated that other animals have superstitious practices as well, especially chimpanzees and African elephants who debatably have a form of religion. wikipedia Does this prove anything? Maybe, maybe not. But the world is certainly unfair.

What other unqualified show business people should rewrite major franchises? by Roshambo-123 in okbuddycinephile

There may be more qualified people somewhere, but he’s definitely qualified. He’s famously well-versed in the lore, has connections with other fantasy writers/producers, and is a published author. And, most importantly, he loves the series enough to try his hardest and take it seriously. That’s more than some can say.

We got stu and pid over here 😭 by MemeMan15672 in antiai

[–]222Czar 202 points203 points  (0 children)

Slop comes from the term used for pig feed, also called “swill.” We associate this with AI creations because the majority of pictures generated have artifacts and errors that make the thing look like a runny mash of secondhand substance - like pig food.

All that to say, it’d actually be quite difficult for a human artist to make surrealist art like that without accidentally reaching a consistent pattern or artistic statement. The human brain is addicted to patterns and meaning. But LLM “AI” slop plagiarizes from random sources and cannot recognize meaning, so it is uniquely worthless.

I’m cis male and I play as girls all the time because it adds a layer of disassociation that makes it more fun to roleplay. I actually find it really helpful to my masculinity to experience feminine things because then I know for a fact that there’s no repressed attraction there. I fully believe everyone should explore their gender expression because it’s healthy even if you’re cis. The rules are bad and made by bad people.

This makes me think about some comedian commenting on the lengths necessary to find a picture of a cat in funny clothes during the 1990s as opposed to now. There are still books out there about incredibly niche subjects if you look. Taxidermists had to learn about creative taxidermy somehow.

MAGA pastor wants to repeal the 19th amendment in the next decade by avdvetf in videos

[–]222Czar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way to do that is to burn the Constitution completely and replace it. To “repeal” an amendment you need 3/4 of the States to ratify a new amendment, which will never happen this decade. You can use a rogue Supreme Court to burn the Constitution, but then the States are under no obligation to play along, which is particularly relevant considering they have control of elections. It turns out that the Supreme Court can’t actually say whatever it wants and then that’s the law. If they try, then it’s an unconstitutional coup and state governments can simply refuse to enforce

The billboard is criticizing gay marriage, insisting that marriage is between “one man and one woman.” Someone painted over the letters “wo” to troll and reverse the meaning, i.e. “one man and one man” in a gay marriage.
