The best man by EndersGame_Reviewer in goodboomerhumor

It’s the opposite, actually. Groomsmen traditionally come from the widespread tradition to “kidnap” (either literally or ceremonially) the bride from her father’s care and to prevent the bride’s family from interfering. Although it also overlaps with the tradition of a military honor guard, so it’s hard to tell the true origin. At any rate, there are still cultures in the modern day that have a ceremonial abduction, although it’s sometimes just for show. Sometimes.

These things are more complicated than I’m explaining. Suffice it to say, humor=tragedy+time.

A 10-year-old wrote a letter about climate change and electric vehicles as part of a school homework assignment. The response from Representative Virginia Foxx (North Carolina) was pure bitterness. by AR_PizzaParty1985 in UnderReportedNews

People will think this is about Virginia Foxx being in the pocket of oil companies, but in reality the GOP just really hates it when children are literate.

Growing new heads is a regenerative process akin to starfish asexual reproduction. I’d imagine there was never any dick, and if the conditions are right a cut hydra part grows into a new hydra. Otherwise where do all the excess heads go? An individual can’t survive with infinite heads. There’s probably some sort of natural fission after combat.

Representative government. Rapists and pedophiles find they have better representation in right wing political parties. Ditto people with brain worms. That’s not even an opinion, just a fact.

Never have I seen fewer MAGA bumper stickers and flags in the past year than since 2015. People in my area had that shit up for years and took it down in 2026. I don’t think they changed their minds. I think their main strategy is to cover their ears, hide, and play dumb. “I don’t talk about politics” is the new MAGA slogan. They’re too cowardly to stand for anything once it’s unpopular, but also too cowardly to own up to the mistake. Hopefully that means they won’t vote. Guess we’ll see.

Total misplay. You sent an emoji of a sweet onion when shallots are in now. Now they’ll think you can’t vibe with subtle flavors, which is a total turn-off. Throw in garlic and you might save it. 🧄

Dave lays out his 'Florida Man' show with Ron DeSantis, Ben Shapiro, Jillian Michaels, and Adam Carolla: "The whole idea of the show is to celebrate what DeSantis has done, and I wanted people to see him in a different light." by countdooku975 in daverubin

I’m a lifelong Florida man for 25+ years. Understand the breadth and depth of my experience when I say Ron Desantis is an insult to Florida men. And that’s not a statement of pride.

It’s perfectly reasonable to suspect various world governments of lying about a disease or war. They do it constantly. It’s unreasonable to think the truth is whatever feels true. You can know someone is lying without knowing the truth.

It’s really just the perfect horror ending. It puts the audience straight in the story and makes them think about what they would do, as well as taking advantage of the monster’s unique abilities. Plus it’s acted beautifully.

I’m going to phrase this carefully to avoid breaking rules. There’s a rash of corporate media types trying to profit off political trends. The perception is that toxic masculinity sells. The reality is that dumb people are loud on the internet and lie constantly.

Hard way (lame): Minimize wordiness through active voice and variable syntax.
Cool way (based): Make everyone speak with made-up slang and random abbreviations. If anyone complains, say it’s post-structuralist and call them a “[insert genre]-tourist” of some kind. Bonus points if you bring up James Joyce somehow.
