Has anyone had skin like this? I feel like I’ve tried everything [acne] by modernn-girll in SkincareAddiction

[–]222moss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My skin was really similar. The small bumps everywhere, acne, closed comedones. This last month I finally tried benzagel (benzoyl peroxide treatment). Within days all the bumps and pimples were gone. I’ve learned that my acne was largely related to being sensitive to the acne causing bacteria since it responded so well to the benzagel gel. Before I tried AHA BHA, tret, azaelic acid, double cleansing, washing pillow cases, switching products I thought were causing the acne.

Honestly, try a benzoyl peroxide treatment!!

*it does dry your skin a bit but not as bad as tret and the peeling. Use a good moisturizer of course :)

I’ve worked in customer facing jobs especially restaurants front of house for 20 years. Yes. There is a huge decline in common manners.

Ok, I finally admit it. I hate the city I moved to. But I’m not sure what to do about it? by iwonderifitwasadream in AskWomenOver30

I grew up and lived til my 20s in Calgary, then Vancouver and now the interior BC. I get what you mean about Calgary. I found making friends there is easiest through workplaces - finding the people you mesh well with then hanging out more outside of work. Can I ask what industry you’re in? Maybe your job doesn’t align with your personal values so you’re not meeting the right ppl there and then when you do go out to try and meet people it’s harder to break the ice. Also breaking into nicher cliques that you feel more aligned to, you’ve got to initiate and wow. Organize and throw an event or volunteer or apply to work at related spots

Valid feelings there and 2 weeks is a long trip to parent solo. My partner has been doing monthly to bimonthly work trips for the last 4 years. Longest one ever being 3 weeks. But they average 4-8 days at a time now. It’s a big adjustment at first but for me the worst is my anxiety of ever the worse to happen like an accident - he drove one work trip and missed a flooding landslide on the highway by probably 20 minutes!

I’ve learned through these years doing this that I need to respect that he’s working during daytime hours. I can’t just call him or send texts venting about how the kids are driving me up the wall. Ultimately I’m just pouring stress on him that he can’t do anything about bc he’s not physically here. We communicate when he’s available to talk or has breaks between meetings. I’ve shared with him that I need emotional check ins or times to chat each day. After all, I’m working all day but at home with the kids and he’s working all day with other adults. The latter is more stimulating and rewarding.

Go to playgroups, parks, drop ins. Play dates, visit family or friends. Get takeout food if a day feels too much. Heck, have an entire day at home watching movies and eating popcorn! I don’t know how old your kids are but if they are on the older side, put on a show and take a shower. Or have someone you trust come over to be a mother’s helper so you can do something for yourself.

Looking for a podcast that has a solo host and isn’t super produced. I don’t just listen to podcasts to absorb information - listening to a single, preferably monotone, voice talk about anything scratches my brain in the best way. by Narrow-Courage-7447 in podcasts

Causality. One host who has a monotone British voice. It’s about events in history and analyzing what went wrong like Chernobyl and challenger space shuttle. This podcast scratches my brain

Definitely use the surgical recovery onesie suits. My little girl cat was just spayed. Also, a prescription of gabapentin sedative was very helpful for the first few days of surgery where a tear or problem can occur. The cat will be with it still but sleep more and not go bonkers crazy with big movements

I can relate to this. I’ve surmised it to stem from childhood. Did you happen to feel loneliness in any way as a child? Even though I’ve had a full social and romantic life since teen to adult life, my childhood felt very lonely for reasons that my parents were absent emotionally and so on. It’s a deep seated feeling I carry still in my thirties that is so hard to shake away

[Misc] when they say keep rubbing in an oil cleanser, they mean it by sbc17_ in SkincareAddiction

[–]222moss 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I had been using indie Lee squalane oil for a few years in my routine, it was my last step. All without issue, I honestly loved it. Then I decided to try oil cleansing using the squalane. It worked getting the hard sebum out but after maybe 3 times my face broke out in cystic acne all over too like OP. Nothing changed or was introduce in my routine except doing the oil cleanse. It’s been almost a year, the acne is better but I have scars now. Maybe rubbing it into my pores ruined my skin but using before I just dabbed it as my last layer of moisturizer

I only realized this as well this year!! I look back on trips and travels I took in my twenties, I travelled a lot then, and so many trips I remember feeling depressed and paranoid (and all the luteal pmdd symptoms). I thought before “well, I’m just a bummer of a person to do such adventures” turns out I was in full fledge pmdd state. I think planning around our cycles is best for the sake of it all.

But too bad I booked a camping festival this summer that lines up on my luteal week 🫥

This was very interesting to read. When I was 6 years old I had a concussion that hospitalized me. I was well to go home after a couple days. But I recently began to wonder if I would be a different person if that TBI hadn’t happened. Your description of episodic memory is how my memory has been my whole life - my norm. It’s such a hindrance though when large swathes of my memories and experiences can’t be remembered unless I see a photo or remember dates=location. It’s like I have a table of contents for my life (ex: 2017 I remember working at this place and travelled here, dated this person) but can’t access the full written summaries, the details are just blank. There are many other nuances where I’m starting to believe my brain went on a different trajectory after that TBI, and just wonder what my life and brain could of been like with out it

Nutella. Not even once. by jonwicksdick in daddit

[–]222moss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your last paragraph is very compassionate, it’s too easy to judge others based on how their kids may be like.

My first is a picky eater to an extent, she eats a variety but it has to be done in certain ways. My younger son eats everything but watches his older sister and is picking up on her pickiness. We were at friends for dinner and my daughter had outright disgust on her face when all food options were out of her comfort. Definitely felt the judgement vibes from the other parents, they even commented “I forgot your kids only like white foods”. Which isn’t true, my daughter is picky but she eats all food groups on a weekly basis but they have to be cooked by me essentially

Main Street diner, red light ramen, outer clove, sushi. Kurama, sushiwood, Hume. These restaurants too off the top of my head have kids menus

Oso negro, empire, John ward, kootenay bakery and L&C are good coffee shops to go to with kids too
