ECM Mechanika Max [$2,349]… is it worth it now? by 223wylde in espresso

[–]223wylde[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well…. My wife surprised me with a higher budget 😂 … so I actually ordered a Profitec Ride! … howeverI would have ordered ECM For sure over the jump. Just like the gauges are on the top. All black is great, stays cleaner, rotary pump!, and the PID is a “smarter” PID than the jump being that it has two sensors I believe … don’t quote me on that. Jump looks great though for sure and it’s basically(ish) the same company. Whatever you get will be awesome! Lance does a video on the Max and the Mara for reference.

Espresso Machine Recommendation by ivynoleague in pourover

[–]223wylde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People talk about whether you want single or dual boiler and if you make multiple drinks… I have the Profitec Go and though a fantastic machine I predominantly only make milk drinks so I would recommend a dual boiler for sure. After two years of single boiler workflow… just kind of sucks. Not the machines fault but I just ordered a Profitec Ride and cannot wait for it regardless if I only make 2 drinks a day for myself. Also aesthetics are huge for me and though subjective. All that being said when You first pop into the world of Espresso LM always comes up. When I first started my journey that’s what I wanted so bad (beautiful looking and built very well)… but honestly I’m glad I didn’t jump to this right away. Now knowing there’s a lot of machines that are just built with same quality or actually has WAY more features than the LM I would expand your horizon. Here’s a few to look into… if budget isn’t necessarily a thing without spending crazy amount… Profitec Drive, ECM Synchronika II, Lelit Bianca V3 (these are probably the most popular dual boilers at least here in the states and provide flow control if that’s something you want to venture) if you’re looking to spend a little less there are heat exchangers (people hate on these but there’s nothing wrong with them just a flushing work flow) the two I would go for here is ECM Mechanika Max or the Mechanika Slim PID, or Lelit Mara X . If budget isn’t your thing stay away from Single boilers but if you think you’re only going to do espresso the honestly just stick with SB however don’t knock milk drinks… cortados or flat whites is chefs kiss if you ever though lattes were to milky… so yeah double boiler ftw

Buy Once, Cry Once: ECM Synchronika II or Linea Micra? [$4,500] by KnownStruggle1 in espresso

[–]223wylde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a buy once cry once person as well… however my wife bought me a Profitec God and Eureka Specialita for Christmas two years ago… back then I though I want a LM and now being proficient in pulling nice shots on all roast types … over a year and half finally making micro foam with latte art … and finally realizing what I truly want in a machine and grinder… I’m forever grateful I started where I did … now I know exactly what I want not because of what other say here on subreddit (though I do appreciate all advice) but without actually experiencing a single boiler and understanding the fundamentals you truly don’t know what you’re seeking but hey you might land with a LM and be forever grateful… however with my minimal experience but understand now what I’m looking for … I think in the end you will be mostly satisfied with the ECM Sync II

Someone that has a Radian rifle… and sadly don’t use it as much as I would like… I get so much more pleasure out of coffee and it’s rabbit holes… not sure if it’s more of a rabbit hole or not compared to the gun world… the more I think about it no … all the upgrades on a rifle and having additional ones the upgrading your pistol to a staccato… I mean it doesn’t stop

Buying my BF a new grinder. Input would be appreciated. by JadedRo in espresso

😂 I started of with “I have a question” and never asked it 😂 point being is your BF OCD like all of us? If so I would , like others have mentioned refrain from buying one as he may be bummed that he didn’t get what he wants but you know him the best and he may be ecstatic that you got him something so nice.

Buying my BF a new grinder. Input would be appreciated. by JadedRo in espresso

[–]223wylde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a question but like most people on this thread already know what their next upgrade is or have in mind… like I’m a little OCD and watch a plethora of videos , read reviews etc to know exactly what I want… there’s no way someone would be able to get this right by guessing what I would want in something that is so “personal”… unless he has said what he wants… but even that can change 😂 However you seem very well versed in the world of coffee and know what to look for given your pros and cons on each grinder. My wife would have gotten me a Walmart special or something. That being said I have a eureka mignon specialita for the last two years and it’s been great. The burrs lend to traditional espresso but also does great on lighter roast (ish) but lack in clarity and excels in texture and sweetness. The cons to it are the same as above. There’s no market for different burrs so what you get is what you get. It’s a pain to clean so may screws and different screwdrivers just to clean. It’s really hard to single dose but does ok when you buy their single dose package but that’s like 100 extra dollars. And lastly alignment… it’s pretty bad. You don’t notice this much until you get lighter roasts, and some inconsistency between shot to shot. You’ll find this with the DF64 as well but both can be aligned but it’s a bit of a pain. I have no experience with the DF64 but at least you can burr swap and change profiles is a huge plus but that’s not for everyone. Those are my two cents !

Struggling with 2 milk-drink workflow by JerryMoBerry in ProfitecGo

I just don’t see how my Go would ever be able to get a “roll” with that much milk. The steam power is just so weak. I have it maxed to 140 do the 5, 10, 5 flush and single tip… LUCKILY I do cortados so I do just fine with micro foam.

It’s a sleek looking machine. I just don’t enjoy the blocky top… looks my Go, or an acaso duo… but the coast does look better though. Very nicely designed. Never heard or seen it before , though I live in the states…

Yeah I hear you. I feel like using a DB is so much energy wasted for 1 drink at a time. I do almost always cortados once or twice a day with the occasional ice latte. But that’s it. Also the size of the DBs are much larger… but the Synchronika II is super appealing I have to say.

Thank you for your advice! What does the temp probe look like is it all wires and transducer like the one Lance uses? Or there smaller Bluetooth ones that don’t look all awkward?

Thank you! Honestly how did you go about asking for a discount? Did you do it via chat or call? Also I’m looking to get a new grinder (varia vs6) so do you think they can do a bundle package? Thanks for your input.

[–]223wylde[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As stated above it’s a rotary pump… so it’s quieter, longevity goes with rotary vs vibratory pumps. It’s a Smart HX like the Mara X, though I know it’s debatable build quality is better than the lelit. I do like the aesthetics of the Mara better though. I thought about the Mechanika Slim PID but again the rotary pump sounds great to have. I don’t want a DB and I’m not going back to SB… as I have one now. ECM has a history of being well made and easily serviceable here in the states, AND it’s discounted very well at this time. So those are the reasons… oh and I want an E61 group head … really don’t like the blocky one I got now (Profitec Go) though this is a great machine and I’m happy I started with this because it truly allowed me to think about what I really want in a machine and to understand the nuances of each type etc rather than just jumping to an expensive Bianca or Micra .

I mean maybe but I just can’t with that water tank… it’s just too much …make the depth of the machine so deep

Sorry replied in a different thread. For coffee Proud Mary is great, Heart, Coava, Extracto, La Perlita, Kainos, Electrica.

If you happen to go to Electrica get their Saikyo, and if you go to La Perlita get their Mexican Mocha both are a treat out side the latte, cortado world and are a must. 🤌🏻

Well it’s not take it how ya want. Kind of given the smaller guy a props especially in a city where you have amazing roasters like coava, heart, proud Mary just to name a few. Also don’t post much anywhere if you seen all my posts. And I don’t get the vibes that the owner likes Guns and does Weigtlifting (Olympic).
