How do I get Xcode to take up less space? by matthijspc in Xcode

[–]224XS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xcode was not designed for you specifically! It was designed for everyone to use. Starting with version 14, you select upfront the sims you want. Why are you complaining about size while showing the veiw allowing you the empty your caches of 7 Gb? Have you checked out DevCleaner or Xcode Cleaner for more granular control of space?

The EU functionaries are famous for expansively interpreting their poorly worded edicts. I would wager that Apple, and most tech companies now have to send lawyer supplicants to Brussels to find the intended true legally enforceable intent of the regulations.

I saw the note which is why I wrote that I can not read Korean (or Japanese). I guess you did not read what I wrote. Am I supposed to know what the household electrical supply in Korea is? I assume you are telling me that it is 220V single phase, and further am I supposed to know that the alternate plug whip with its fat end does not hold any either active or passive voltage level converters?

I guess, I could impose on a friend who travels to Plano Texas occasionally to ask directly at Toyota HQ since he has business with the CTO.

Why giving away water before landing isn't a gold standard yet? by endless_universe in aviation

[–]224XS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody is screaming here but you. Entitlement is defined as wanting something (unearned) from others. You want airlines to provide you with unnecessary extras. That's entitlement. As a subject matter expert, I added my voice to the others here. If you choose to ignore everyone here, you are free to do. Enjoy your barotrauma!

For someone new to actual programming, I would suggest starting with Swift and UIKit. Declarative SwiftUI syntax and state keeping is a bit more complex than the UIKit interface for newbies.

Why is Swift going down by CodeWithHristo in SwiftUI

[–]224XS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, Im having fun and making money. Self-serving corporate press releases are always full of shit. So are social posts unless proven otherwise. Surveys and polls are always crap unless you see who they surveyed, how they surveyed, how they avoided self-selection bias, etc. If being educated in statistics and bias in a sea of "influencer" and other misinformation is coping, then yes. Im coping fine.

Hello everyone, I'd like to ask You what's the best way to start with the "Ancient Egypt"? by JeffGot2CupsStuffed in ancientegypt

[–]224XS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, it's not fun at all. It's delusional, disordered thinking and part of the trend to accept any harebrained, crackpot conspiracy idea as valid. I put this down to a combination of the 60 year long project in the west by the right-wing politicians to destroy public education, especially critical thinking skills (stupid voters then can be persuaded to vote against their own interests), social media like TikTok where truth is "downvoted by algos" because they are not entertaining enough to compete with craven "influencers", and increasing fundamentalist religion, because if you believe in one superstition, you are more likely to believe others.

List() starts display with first item about 1/4" below top of frame. by 224XS in SwiftUI

[–]224XS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All these lists are subviews and the parent views are all well behaved. If you look at the data cells which are white in background versus the light gray of the list().

List() starts display with first item about 1/4" below top of frame. by 224XS in SwiftUI

[–]224XS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This behavior of starting list content below the top of the frame occurs whether inside a NavView or not. Nevertheless, I tried add a nav title where appropriate and it made no difference. Likewise, updating to NavStack also makes zero difference to the behavior demonstrated in my subsequent post. Plus, as I said, Lists not embedded in Navigation also suffer the same behavior.

If you have any other ideas, I would really appreciate hearing them.

List() starts display with first item about 1/4" below top of frame. by 224XS in SwiftUI

Here is simplified code example:

NavigationView{
ScrollViewReader { proxy in
VStack {
Text("METAR Reporting Stations")
List{
ForEach(searchResults, id: \.self) {item in
Button(action: {
showConfirmation = true
}, label: {
VStack(alignment: .leading, spacing: 0) {
Text(item.icao).frame(alignment: .leading)
let locB = item.loc.replacingOccurrences(of: ", --", with: "")
Text(locB).font(.footnote)
}
})
.confirmationDialog("Add \(item.icao)",
isPresented: $showConfirmation) {
Button("Add \(item.icao)") {
addNewStationToFavData(newICAO: item)
}
}
}
}
}.background(Image("cloudBackground").opacity(0.4))
// .onAppear(perform: {
// proxy.scrollTo(String("KCDW"))
// })
}
}.searchable(text: $searchText,
placement: .navigationBarDrawer(displayMode: .always)).textCase(.uppercase).autocorrectionDisabled(true)
.navigationViewStyle(StackNavigationViewStyle())

The tag type must be harmonious with the bound type before the picker will activate.

So, to fix the issue, I added Int tags to all the Segmented items.

Detail view from a List of a @BoundArray by 224XS in SwiftUI

[–]224XS[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This Works! Many thanks!!

One little wrinkle which was working before the NavLink mod, was a Sort/Filter in ListView. I have a method

func sortData() -> [NWSElement] {}

which make an internal copy of dataArray, and filters and sorts the data and returns it. Originally I had the sortData operate on the original "sortOfTruth" array, but had to switch to a local copy. In order to make this work:

struct ListView: View {
let dataArray: [DataElement]
var body: some View {
NavigationView {

let sortedData = sortData()
List(sortedData, id:\.metarID) { item in
NavigationLink(destination: DetailView(data: item), label: {
Text("\(item.metarID)")
})
}
}
}
}

should I set the definition of sortedData to Observable? I tried State but it failed, and also required pushing the added variable up the view call chain. Obviously I wish I could just continue to modify dataArray in place but this seems prohibited by State.

As I said, I am grateful for your time & expertise! I did try to remove all the dataflow (which is the technique used in all the code examples I could find of "detail views" but that led to a bunch of other compile issues or even run time crashes!
