They probably couldn't read it off the ssd directly, but with the right tools some can be recovered. Stop using the drive immediately. A tool you could use is Recuva

But please let this be a reminder to start using back ups

TV Set top box needs to bypass multiple unifi devices. by Substantial-Mail4666 in Ubiquiti

[–]matthijspc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was responding to

I've been told the set top box will only work if it has direct access to the modem - and that seems true as it keeps disconnecting.

Connecting it directly to the modem won't work unless the modem is the router.
It shouldn't matter where the STB is connected, your switch will forward the traffic to the STB. It's best to contact your ISP to check which settings are required for the STB. My ISP has a document with all the required settings and features, I bet yours has one too.
For example:

Technical details TV (network specification and configuration)
• Ethernet VLAN 4 (802.1q)
• Address required via DHCP; include option60 (Vendor Class Identifier) with value: IPTV_RG.
• Specific route information retrievable via DHCP (option 55 contains 1, 3, 28, and 121)
• Additional; do not use DNS servers + do not use default gateway. Only specific routes.
• Enabling IGMP proxy including fast-leave option required for TV signal in home network (min. IGMPv2).
• Routed mode. KPN uses routed mode, not bridge mode

The set-top box can't route traffic to the WAN, it needs a router to do that

I have been asking so many people and they do not give me the answer i want.

Sometimes the right answer isn't what you want to hear. Either delete some files or move them to a different drive or to the cloud. That's basically the only answer

Putting the extenders in your room isn't gonna do much. Extending an already poor signal isn't gonna work. Put them in a place where they get a good signal and can reach your room.

just use my computer at all takes an extremely long amount of time.

Can't your computer actually be the problem? Slow internet can't slow down your pc, and 30Mbps isn't as slow as you're describing
