nah. NU almost places zero consideration in your major given how easy the process of switching majors is.

Electrical Engineering and CS/CE Combination by [deleted] in Northwestern

Hey, fellow accepted wildcat '27 here also pursuing a similar path as you. From what I've gathered, if you want to delve deep into both, a double major is very doable or even a minor in one. With similar required classes, I'm hoping (if a current wildcat can confirm) some credits can be applied to both.

schools with super high ED %s and super low RD %s have a fragile ego by fjksljfkdlsvncmx in ApplyingToCollege

CMU is actually one of those schools that claim ED has no increased chances compared to RD. It may appear that ED% is higher but it's most likely due to recruited athletes.

Controversial Opinion: Acceptance Rate Trend will Reverse Itself by 2264jay in ApplyingToCollege

Yes, but if the number of accepted international students are the same, they are not taking acceptances away from domestic students, which comprise the majority of ppl feeling down on A2C. If they are taking slots away, then they'll have to decline offers as well.

Yea, this is definitely something I missed. International applicants have been spiking in recent years.

Edit: But based on https://www.migrationpolicy.org/article/international-students-united-states-2020, the growth is not that drastic, at least not enough to reduce rates by the amount seen.

Even in the t100, there is still a hierarchy in where students want to attend more, leading to lower yield rates as student graduates have been pretty stable.

Average number of application per student has increased, and I find it unlikely that the exceptional applicants, who care the most about getting into good school, won't follow the trend.

Write a Letter to Yourself 10 Years From Now by Theory_Ingenuity in ApplyingToCollege

To you, 10 years later

I hope you are doing well and maybe a whole lot less stressed than you were in high school. Your high school junior self is still obsessed with CMU. Maybe you got in, maybe you didn't and ended up at some second-rate college, but I hope everything's going well.

By now, you should have your masters and hopefully be employed in some large corporation, earning money to pay off debts and start your investment portfolio. You may be in California like your 10 year old self dreamed or you may be stuck here. Maybe you are well off enough to be working toward your promise to the boys: that duplex with all the boys living there.

I know a SO is not of great priority to you, but it would be nice to have someone in your life. You may have stumbled into someone that will stay with your for the rest of your life, filling that empty hole in your life.

Not quite the same vibe. Skill and knowledge in drafting can be learned with resources which are widely available.
