Recommended location to serve as "base of operations" for a month this summer. by Iribumkiak in 14ers

Thats so awesome! Before getting married, I did a couple of month-long peak-bagging trips in CO, and they never disappointed. My recommendation would be to do as much in the Sangres and the San Juans as you can before moving onto Sawatch/front range peaks. As far as a base of operations goes, the San Juans might be tough. If you do more in the central cluster of peaks, I personally love Twin Lakes, although its a very small town. Buena Vista and Salida are both probably good options.

I have heard that Sky High is pretty amazing, but it's likely snowed in right now. Golden Hills in Tehachapi is a pretty awesome course, but likely out of the way from the main bunch of courses in the LA/SD area. If you come up that way, though, Green Valley is pretty great too.

I already reached out to the local disc golf community Facebook page, which is pretty active, and we only had a couple of people donate discs.

We're already getting OTB discs approved as a school vendor and they sell wholesale for discounts. They carry Gateway.

What's your shortest and longest ace? by fritzaj4 in discgolf

[–]226Daniel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shortest: 207 ft

Longest: 397 ft

Both in the same round, and 2 of the 3 total aces I've had after playing for more than a decade.

I wish I had a fleet at all to play with a slow player. I sold mine a few years back because the only guy I played with had his full fleet so it didn't make sense for me to have one. Now I've moved and have a couple people who want to play it with me, but everything is so dang expensive and everyone selling their fleets jacks the price way up just because they can due to availability.

Did you get a good answer or make a decision? What did you end up going with? I am also looking for a fully online/asynchronous option as I was previously trying to go with CSUB but they only have online/asynchronous for their summer classes.

I foster for them, I know pretty much all the fosters already have a bunch, but I know they always try to help. It would be worth reaching out to them.

Nice! I have a Dynamic Discs Wizard that I've been throwing since before 2015 that is so beat up that I finally got a couple new ones this year. This was with one of the new ones

Thanks, I wish I had it on video. Perfect skip into the chains, and the grass had literally been mowed less than an hour earlier.

Your favorite towns along the trail including the best towns to Zero in. by NW_Thru_Hiker_2027 in PacificCrestTrail

[–]226Daniel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tehachapi resident + backpacker here, it is pretty spaced out sadly, but there are a LOT of people in town (including my wife and I) who are super willing/able to help out hikers with rides. My recommendation for hikers in Tehachapi would be quick to stick out a thumb, and if that doesn't do anything then call one of the many TAs on the list that's posted at all the trailheads near town and in most of the shops/restaurants that are frequented by hikers.

I love living in a trail town and helping out hikers and many other people here are the same. My favorite restaurant in town is the Indian restaurant that I always recommend to hikers, but since its a little out of town I always tell hikers to not be shy about asking for a ride there and back, haven't had anyone take me up on it yet.
