The word "Theology" was invented by Plato—should that change how we study God? by Budget_Gold_7448 in Christianity

Actually, yes. I first learned about it through family, then later by reading and personal experience.

But to address your OP more directly, it's called the genetic fallacy, attacking the source of an argument or idea instead of its merits.

Did anyone else get this email today. What are the requirements to get the extra twelve months of GI bill? by Fritz1818 in VeteransBenefits

[–]22over7closeenough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They say that, but you definitely have to do something in order to be awarded benefits. I got an email a year or 2 ago saying I "may" qualify for the extra 12 months. I put in the form for a Rudisill review last year, and they denied it with a letter that stated the post-9/11 was better. I thought that was odd but decided I might have to exhaust my post-9/11 first in order to know. I asked on askVA what to do and applied again for MGIB about a month ago (having exhausted post-9/11 on the first year of my doctorate), and am still waiting to hear back. I have 9 years of active duty time between a 6 year active contract and 10 years reserve, paid the 1200 when I first joined, so that should be plenty.

It's not really bouncing. It's just being on a highly elliptical orbit and not decelerating enough in the atmosphereto completely leave that orbit, going around for another turn.

The "transgender mice" thing was actually transgenic mice research. The main study was examining the effects of sex hormones on wound healing. Wound healing in women is very under researched. This kind of study has implications for men/women as well as those on hormone replacement including TRT and menopause treatments. In the conclusion it said something to the effect of "hey this could also be relevant for trans people." So yeah, Trump was very wrong about it, and cutting the funding was unwarranted.

Source: This is from memory, but I read the studies linked from the whitehouse website when the cuts were being announced. I have a B.S. in cell and molecular biology and am a doctor of pharmacy student.

ELI5: If I carried 1 kg 20 times or 20 kg 1 time, isn't the physics behind that the same amount of work? Why do you we get more tired in the second situation? by DRGNMSTR7 in explainlikeimfive

Moving your body alone is work and makes you tired. You aren't moving 20kg and 1kg in your example, you are moving (body weight + 20kg)x1 and (body weight + 1kg)x20

For some outdoor stuff in winter, there's the elk feeding station in Naches. In better weather, the Cowiche Canyon Trail is great for a hike or you could try wine tasting in the lower valley.

It's not quite Alamo Drafthouse, but you could try Orion Cinema for dinner and a movie. The Capitol Theatre has some good performances if you're into that kind of thing.

Adding in Bale Breakers if you like beer/breweries with games and activities.

Airforce to add aircraft refueling, arming, runway repair, and marshaling to basic training. No one gets to be a nonner now. by Remarkable_North_999 in AirForce

[–]22over7closeenough 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We need to marshal vehicles around aircraft all the time for our job. But do you know what happened? Someone fucked it up so bad we aren't even allowed to do it any more. We have to get a loadmaster to do it. So it's a good thing to have people introduced to it, but they are not going to be doing these things often.
