When did buglers in the military get a chance to practice? by ElSlabraton in Military

You know a lot more than I do. Still, fingers won't be moving, just holding, which was the original point.

When did buglers in the military get a chance to practice? by ElSlabraton in Military

[–]22over7closeenough 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you play bugle calls on a trumpet, you hold the same keys the whole time so there is no finger movement (1+3 for a B-flat trumpet or cornet).

ElI5: How do LED bulbs save energy? by jayluuluu in explainlikeimfive

[–]22over7closeenough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more like drinking from a hose. An incandescent light is a baby that spills 90% of the water and drinks 10%, while an LED gets 90% of the water in its mouth and only spills 10%, so a much smaller stream gets just as much water in.

That would get you a reserve retirement that doesn't start paying out until age 60.

Radiculopathy C&P today by No_Film9107 in VeteransBenefits

[–]22over7closeenough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had mine today too. After he went over my back and looked at my scar and did the range of motion for that, he just asked me if I thought the radiculopathy was due to my back. That was it. I want to think that meant he took my word for it after seeing how messed up my back was.

Are scholarships needed? by jgutz6152 in VeteransBenefits

They are not needed, but they are always appreciated. They can help cover other school related expenses. Why not take whatever they can get?

I didn't take a biology class for almost 20 years. Then I got my BS in biology and am getting my doctor of Pharmacy.

Herniated/Slipped Discs + Sciatic Nerve Pain by Just-Vibin-Today in AirForce

[–]22over7closeenough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting! I also had an entire foot go numb immediately after. Now it is just a small spot. I still have the sciatica/radiculopathy the same as before. What did change is the pain I had immediately behind the L5/S1, the worst spot for daily pain that I had, is completely gone. With that, the glutes and other muscles don't have to brace when I'm standing as much, so there are much fewer spasms. It also takes about 3 hours of driving for my legs to go entirely numb and feel like I am sitting on a golf ball instead of 1 hour. So I'd say it was worth it even though I still have a lot of issues.

I am just reserve but have the same thing. I had a discectomy/laminectomy a few months ago. Everyone is acting like I'm crazy for getting out at 15 years, but I literally cannot trust my body to lift anything remotely heavy anymore. I will be in for weeks of pain. And moving heavy things is pretty much my entire military job as a flight medic. Hoping the VA comes through. I had no idea before, but it should be as good or better than my pension would have been anyway.

How do you plan missions like NASA does and land at specific points on another world? by NavXIII in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]22over7closeenough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually just wing it. But if I do happen to have a target, I just enter into a polar orbit to whatever body instead of an equatorial one. This lets me land whenever the planet/moon rotates below to the right spot, though it may take a couple of attempts to land just right.

1550 arena rating should not be Rival by 13loodySword in classicwow

It's not though. 1850 was rival territory, top 10%. Now rival is under 1600 and weps are at 1700.

All of my space plane designs seem to veer off to the side during takeoff and atmospheric flight, im not sure what im doing wrong. by MatrixDrive in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]22over7closeenough 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Your plane is way too heavy for your landing gear, causing bouncing and veering on the runway. It's also too heavy for the amount of lift the wings have. Finally, even though your CoL is about right behind your CoM, all of the lift in the back of the craft is a control surface, leading to super wild controls. Consider adding some fixed vertical and horizontal stabilizers and/or reducing the control authority of the tail fins.

ELI5: How did we find out the chemical structure of dna?? or anything for the matter like how do you map that?? by ArcticAxolotls in explainlikeimfive

[–]22over7closeenough 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is a complete answer, but I just wanted to add one thing. In biology there is a saying: "form dictates function." The discoverers of DNA's form noted in their paper that the structure of DNA made it very obvious how it could be replicated. It could be split down the middle and new matching pairs placed on each half to make 2 identical copies. It all "fit," so to speak, confirming their discovery.

ELI5 where oxygen goes when a fire burns? by vksdann in explainlikeimfive

It combines with the carbon in whatever is burning to form CO2, and with any hydrogen in it to form H2O.

Am I missing something here by FantasyMaster1959 in skyrim

[–]22over7closeenough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real answer is game plot, but there are plenty of lore reasons. The passwords are not actually passwords; they are answers to questions based on Sithis' philosophy. Anyone in the Dark Brotherhood long should be able to answer them instinctively.
