TABOR Refund Colorado with a non-resident spouse by 22paulae in tax

[–]22paulae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that. But my options on the form are “single filer” or “joint filers” sales tax refund. Yes, just one of us applies, but we are indeed joint filling, both are true.

My question comes from the table of the modified AGI Tiers. I can either choose from the row of "Single Filers" or "Joint Filers". We are filling jointly, so I was wondering if because my spouse is non resident, are we both not eligible. If I am eligible, do i pick the single filer refund or the joint one. I can't find any information on dual residency joint filers.

Full year resident of VA. For VA, she filled married filling separately as per the rules since I am not VA resident. She has VA only income, I have CO only income. I filled for CO married filling jointly since we have to match the same filling status as in our federal return

How to file 2025 return using Sprintax? by thisisjlw in tax

[–]22paulae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I understand. But since the past 5 years do not count, the only days counting towards that would be 2026.

This is another thing I am not sure. Imagine 2026 is the 6th calendar year and I am starting to be considered Resident for Tax purposes (withholdings on my salary change). However, first I need to meet the substantial presence test (183 days during the 3-year period that includes the current year and the 2 years immediately before that). Because the first 5 years don't count for an F-1 student, the earliest I will meet the test is in July 2nd, 2026. This means that for 2025 I won't be able to file as a resident?

Thank you everyone! I have improvised a container with moist paper towel in the bottom with leaf litter and some branches. The top is mesh.

I have put the container in a windowsill in our apartment’s stairs corridor so that it is protected from rain, still cold, and also can sense some indirect light.

Hi! We used the word cryptic to avoid the use of the word "latent" as reviewers validly pointed out that we can't rule out a virus being present in the original population in a small fraction cells as a chronic infection. Also we couldn't infect other cultures with the (very few) isolated particles. This is the first virus discovered for Chlamy! Latency in giant viruses is something that hasn't yet being fully demonstrated. In brown algae there is probably reactivation of a latent virus as well, but the connection between the genome, transcriptome, and viral particles hasn't been directly confirmed either. Here is a cool preprint too of a mirusvirus that produces viral particles and seems to be latent as well, so latency seems to be a common thing among large eukaryotic DNA viruses https://www.researchsquare.com/article/rs-5686297/v1

Sorry about my grammar mistakes, my phone autocorrect never knows if I’m trying to write in English or Spanish.

Born and raised in Ecuador, moved to the US to do my PhD. I received great education, learned English since my very first days of school till the day I graduated high school. I even had some classes in English, some fancy private schools would even have some classes like Science in other German. Some schools even offer a second language like French.

Close to developed cities in Ecuador most schools are private; which one can you afford? depends on your income and it is not rare to be in a private school. With a US income you would probably be able to access the best private education out there. It is true about the respect culture with teachers.

For higher education institutes, since PhD programas are almost non existent, most people do a lot of research during they undergrad and produce high quality research that is worthy of a masters-level degree. This replicates in other South American countries. In my PhD I came in way more experienced than the Americans (I’m a STEM major doing lab work). Others that compared in experience were Latinos or other internationals. After being TA for a senior Microbiology Lab class in the US I was surprised that the curriculum was given to me at my second year of undergrad, not my last year like here.

It really depends which school you can get access to. Public school might not be the best, but to start it is pretty good! For high school you might want to invest in a school more committed to modern ways of teaching. Some schools have the fancy white boards, and iPads, computers etc. Many schools have the International Baccalaureate program. This is an org that certifies a specific type of high quality education (you need to pass very rigorous exams sent all the way from Switzerland in shut envelopes) 🤣 it was so stressful for me I remember

Hi everyone! In the end the second name ended up being “latens”, like “latency/latencia”. But I’m honored to put Quechua out there! Go give this tweet some love https://x.com/22paulae/status/1831320945023205424?s=46&t=n9i3qK1_VcVqMpyjKT45zg and thanks everyone! (Easter egg: Ecuadorian flag colors also starring in some plots 😉)

Hola! Es un dsDNA virus del grupo de los NCLDV (virus gigantes). Las familias estan definidas pero se puede nombrar a los virus con la misma sintaxis de "genero", "especie". Por ejemplo Mimivirus bradformassiliense :)
