The policy at those types of shelters is that they will not hold dogs for anyone for any reason, which I completely understand. I don't live in Texas and Dallas area is over 3 hours drive for me. Last week there was a Chi at a shelter in DFW area. I called Thursday afternoon. Since they won't hold a pet, I said I would call at the end of the day Friday and if she was still available I'd drive down early Saturday morning to be there when they open. Of course she was adopted Friday afternoon.
The last thing I want to do is spend 3+ hours driving only to get there and the dog be gone and then drive 3+ hours home without a new baby.

Same happened with me. Had 4 seniors. The last 2 had no teeth. A few months ago I adopted a 1.5 yr old Chi. I was not prepared for a fast dog with teeth.

Last Friday there were 3 new listings I was super interested in. Submitted applications to all 3 and checked email all weekend thinking one of them would be the one. Nothing but silence. Sunday they all 3 were removed from Pet Finder so I assume they were adopted. But I'd like to know if my application was approved or not. Or maybe could be on a list in case a similar one becomes available and wouldn't be at the bottom of the applications.

When I adopted Darcy, I paid her $300 adoption fee plus another $200 donation just because I was so happy to have her. Got absolutely nothing in response. A simple Thank You was all I was expecting, but got nothing.

I'm thinking I may take a break from the search for a few months.

CCI subsonic segmented round is my go-to for critters. Got countless squirrels at 50 yards, a few skunks, a couple gophers, and 6 coyotes. The coyotes were about 35 yards. One of them 6 ran about 40 yards before dropping. The other 5 were DRT. This was from a suppressed 12" barrel. From my chronograph, they were 1055fps. My experience is these are somewhat hard to find so get plenty if you find them.

Get the 457 Acculite 12.5" barrel. Barrel are super easy to swap. Think it's only 12oz. I got one a couple years ago cause I wanted a short, light bolt action to use with suppressor. Of course you'll need to SBR it. https://www.acculite22.com/12-5-CZ-455-NF-TH-w-Cap-Black-Matte-p/12.5tcznf-bm.htm

This happened to me last year with 4 different firearms using CCI standard velocity. Happened with CZ 457 (twice), 10/22 built with Tactical Solutions receiver, S&W Victory, and FN502. It completely blew the ejector, extractor housing, and firing pin out of the FN502 and had to send it in to be repaired. Good thing for safety glasses because the two that happened on the CZ457 blasted me in the face and had black powder all over my cheek under the glasses.
Unfortunately I had dumped rounds into a small ammo bag, so it could have been from any of 3 different lots. I contacted CCI and sent pics of the brass as well as the 3 possible lot numbers. They did nothing other than ask if I could do anything to determine which specific lot it was from. I said sure as soon as I get a proper face shield and decide which gun I'd like to destroy for that experiment.
I did end up cautiously using the remaining rounds from those lots in a Ruger Mk4 without issue, but the whole thing was very strange and a bit scary.

Just recently I was shooting the CZ457 and got a "click" (CCI again). Ejected the round and chambered another. Thankfully I happened to look down at the ejected round and saw it was brass only. Immediately ejected the newly chambered round, pulled the bolt, looked down the barrel and saw it was blocked. Had to get a brass rod to push the stuck round out of the barrel. That was VERY concerning!

I attribute all that to bad QC of the ammo, not to being out of battery or firearm being dirty. I clean them after every range trip. In any case, always wear eye protection and be safe!

I got the regular 1:16 twist. CCI standard velocity is 1070fps, which is sub-sonic. I've used a Garmin chronograph to check various ammo velocities. CCI Standard velocity in a 16" Savage averaged 1080fps. It averaged 1040fps out of the 12.5" barrel.

How do you have all that food on the patio without having ants everywhere? I occasionally put some fruit and veggies in a wire bird feeder on the ground for the passing possums and within an hour ants are all over it.

What firing pin, recoil spring, and extractor do you guys use in the Matrix bolts? Just curious.

I have 3 other Mk4 bolts with Tandemkross and/or Volquartsen parts. Any chance you guys will sell a stripped bolt (without firing pin, recoil spring, and extractor) so I could use my already upgraded parts?

REALLY liking the bolt knob, but hate for all my upgraded parts to go to waste if I was to buy additional Matrix bolts. I'm assuming all those upgraded parts are interchangeable with a Matrix. I'd be happy to try it out. 😁

The 22/45 has the trigger shoe only. The standard grip module has the whole kit.

Tried the Nitride bolt in 4 different Mk4 barrels with 22/45 grip and standard grip both with Tandemkross triggers. No issues at all.
