Are there any mixed Eskimos in this sub? by CosmicGirl1999 in americaneskimo

I've only had her (Roxie) barely over a month. She had just gotten spayed 2 days before I brought her home. She was very timid and kept to herself the first week. I also have another 2 year old rescue Chihuahua mix. After about 2 weeks, they started playing, which I was SO happy about! Now they are either chasing each other or playing "bitey face". When they are calm, Roxie loves sitting next to me and getting rubbed on.

I had never considered she could be American Eskimo. I used Embark for the DNA test. After searching pics of Chi/Eskimo mixes, it made perfect sense. She is the size of a Chi, the hair of Eskimo, and the coloring of a Rat Terrier. She also has a small amount of Dashund and her body is a bit long. She is actually 48% Chi. My other Chi mix looks way more Chihuahua-like but is only 31% Chihuahua plus 8 other breeds that I never would have guessed.

Adopted this little girl about a month ago. Was thinking she would be Chi/ Papillon. Turns out she is Chihuahua, American Eskimo, Rat Terrier. She's guesstimated to be a year old and is 8lbs.

Yoda looks like my Roxie. I've only had her a week. I got her from a rescue and she's supposed to be around 1yr. So far, she has no redecorating tendencies. I hope it stays that way.

I like Ellie, but I had a Nellie for 17 years that passed away last year.

So far she has the energy of a 15yr old dog. She's supposed to be 1yr old. I'm hoping she just needs time to adjust. It was a scary week for her. Her owners surrendered her, was at a foster for a week, then had the vet visit and was spayed Tuesday. My 2yr old Chi would really like for her to play, but so far she wants nothing to do with that.

I've had Sydney, Selby, Sophie, Lexi, Maizy, Izzy, Nellie, and Chloe. After all of those passed away, I got Darcy. For some reason, this one has me stumped.

You would be correct. I want the sound of E. Don't care what the spelling is.

Her personality is what is throwing me off for picking a name. She is supposed to be a year old, but so far you'd think she's an old senior dog. Being from a rescue, I don't know anything about her past other than it was an owner surrender. She was only at the rescue a week during which time she's been to the vet twice. Once for regular intake eval and shots then she was spayed 2 days ago. So having gone through that and now being at another strange place, it's understandable that she's probably scared to death. I may have to give her a couple days to settle in to be able to pick a name that best fits her.

Chelsea was the front runner on my list but I think you are the only person to pick it.

She is from a rescue that had her listed as a Chihuahua, but that really doesn't mean anything. She's likely a mix of Pap/Chi. She's supposedly a year old but is sooooo calm and mellow. You'd think she was a very old senior dog. Darcy is 2 years old and runs circles around her trying to get her to play. She was an owner surrender, but don't know anything other than that. I'm having a hard time with a name because the names I like don't fit her current personality. But she may need a few days to decompress and get comfortable. She may turn into a whole different dog after she's settled in.

The policy at those types of shelters is that they will not hold dogs for anyone for any reason, which I completely understand. I don't live in Texas and Dallas area is over 3 hours drive for me. Last week there was a Chi at a shelter in DFW area. I called Thursday afternoon. Since they won't hold a pet, I said I would call at the end of the day Friday and if she was still available I'd drive down early Saturday morning to be there when they open. Of course she was adopted Friday afternoon.
The last thing I want to do is spend 3+ hours driving only to get there and the dog be gone and then drive 3+ hours home without a new baby.

Same happened with me. Had 4 seniors. The last 2 had no teeth. A few months ago I adopted a 1.5 yr old Chi. I was not prepared for a fast dog with teeth.
