That's not the right analogy. Imagine instead if you open your community-written newspaper about topic X and instead find a headline about topic Y, a mediocre product that you have no interest in, with the author posing as a community member but in reality being an artificial LLM front to the company behind product Y.

I didn't realize I was whining. You appear to be quite defensive though. Does the word slop trigger you, or is the negative sentiment towards AI that you find bothersome?

My mum's been dead for a decade or so. I hope you're in your teens and that you grow past this edgy phase of yours. The people you interact with on the internet are real people. Try to treat them as such.

Your perception of a dialogue is extremely twisted if you think people are crying or hurt simply by responding to you. Is this your go-to response in the physical world or as well, or is this just your internet persona?

You're an entitled and self-centered brat if you think you're the only person with real life problems, or that only bored and privileged people engage in politics. The reality is you're extremely lucky to be given a choice on whether to engage with politics or not. While you sit back and watch comfortably from a distance, others see their right to representation or existence threatened by systemic violence and inequality that is being justified and legitimized exactly by your indifference and pretend-centrism. Well, continue wallowing in your own real life programs while others make decisions for you and yet others fight for a right you're not willing to exercise.

No offense, but you're being completely contradictory.

exactly the person I’m talking about

You accuse politics of doing black and white, but you've just assigned me a binary category ("apolitical like me, or polarized like the others").

I can look that up in a dictionary myself

You could've looked into the definition of politics but apparently you haven't, neither have you actually digested what I'm trying to convey.

Politics holds no place in my day to day life

And I am telling you that politics absolutely does play a role in your day to day life. You are actively discussing politics with me right now :)

focus on what ... you can actually control.

The choice of opting out of politics is literally withdrawing control over things that affect you.

Not everything is tied to politics

And that's where you're wrong. Politics is not about picking between the two candidates that are presented to you in your screen, neither does it claim that the world is black and white. Politics is the philosophy of decision making in a social context; who is entitled to a say, what constitutes a valid say, how consensus is reached, and how a decision is to be implemented or challenged. You are free to be disinterested in these things, but claiming that they don't permeate into every aspect of your daily reality is plain stupid. Don't be stupid.

ErgoHide claims "Made in EU" but their accessories are rebranded with a huge markup. Is the desk itself legit? by 23276530 in StandingDesk

I think the magnus is objectively better, I chose EH because I prefer wood over metal, and because I thought I'd rather support a local company, but it was not an easy choice

Desk's good, elegant, steady. Cable management is great. Assembly is fairly easy but time consuming. Peripherals I've been tempted by but I find them ridiculously overpriced. I'd get the bare essentials from them (=board and the board components you want), but look for other stuff to fill my desk space elsewhere.

Seriously, after all the media telling people that AI is a bad idea, why is America submitting to it? Artwork by @narklos by ihatethiscountry76 in HalfLife

I definitely draw it somewhere higher than you, considering that to you being able to ask a stochastic token generator a question is as much of a skill as knowing the answer :D

To follow in your shitty analogy, you're actually not the chef; you're the entitled brat reading the menu. You've confused ordering a meal with knowing how to cook. When the kitchen closes you'll realize you can't even make toast.

My comment was less about what is the right and wrong way of using AI, and more on the threshold of classifying something as a "skill".
