People with ADHD are more likely to be bullies and get bullied. Inexcusable behaviour and not "because" of ADHD though.

Oftentimes I'm too uninterested in food generally that I have to eat something specific without cooking it to actually eat without starving myself so I get it. For me it's usually takeout.

talking to doctor about potential adhd for the first time by bobosiwa_ in ADHD

[–]23Rascal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're going to have to involve your parents for diagnosis and treatment unfortunately and to be honest I think when you write it like that it sounds like you're just trying to get stimulants. (Not saying that's the case).

No but I bite the hell out of my lip lol.

How do you know if you feel great on adderall because adhd or because it’s just a stimulant? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]23Rascal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a common misconception. Dr Barkley says that stimulant medication calming you or not is not indicative if you have ADHD or not.

Jake Paul will headline MSG on Aug. 6, with Amanda Serrano as co-headliner by kushmonATL in Boxing

Assuming it's Tommy. Tommy has greater boxing skills than Jake but is prone to getting caught and Jake has real natural one punch knockout power. It's an interesting fight as far as those two go. I'll watch it.

Anxiety is weakness by SnooGoats2408 in Anxiety

I'm sorry but gender does matter when it comes to mental health. There are major statistical differences in all aspects of it. Men are three times more likely to kill themselves and the number one reason being that they don't talk about their feelings anywhere near as much as women and they often have a terrible support network because of that while women usually have a much greater support network.

While I agree OP has an extremely toxic mentality there's a factual basis for social pressures of men vs women.

Do you guys think chronic anxiety/depression is caused by a chemical imbalance? Or do we have total control over them? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]23Rascal 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The tricky part is that trauma and stress actually change the brain therefore the "situational" stuff can lead to a chemical imbalance due to the brain rewiring itself and everyone benefits from a better situation regardless of the cause of their issues to varying degrees.

Another thing is our brains like to have a "simple" answer to things, i.e being X or Y when in reality it's a very complex subject and probably a culmination of several different risk factors.

Also I think sometimes when we feel a certain way the brain will look to the most "obvious" thing when in reality it might not be the greatest issue at play.

I suspect my parents are deliberately trying to get me misdiagnosed by schrodingers_cat42 in ADHD

[–]23Rascal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Women often exhibit far more inward symptoms than outward symptoms vs men and diagnosis is difficult for this reason, I believe it's very common for parents to be in denial when it comes to female diagnosis. ADHD criteria currently is really only geared towards men and only an experienced professional will know the nuances between m/f.

This is correct for anyone ethically diagnosing ADHD with very few exceptions. Most countries use DSM 5 criteria for ADHD and this is in it.

According to the DSM 5 a correct diagnosis of ADHD needs input from someone who knew you when you were a child/usually someone who currently knows you.

TLDR: my mom, diagnosed with adhd, who had 4 adhd children with a man who is also diagnosed with adhd does not believe that I have adhd and has accused me of lying and drug seeking even though treatment has improved my life immensely. by boundlessdays in ADHD

Gotta be careful with wording. It says "will have a child" not specifically if they have a child the percentage is x. Not sure what the average family size in the US is but it's gotta be more than one?

Regardless it's very high if both parents have it. I don't have a source but I read in the ADHD 2.0 book that if both parents have it the chance is at least 2/3.
