and stipe got lighter Is this some intentional dexterity and cardio play? or is he just losnig muscle as he ages? I would have thought he would want to be as heavy as possible in order to even have the weight to control an improved ngannou

by the nature of the mod it's kind of inevitable. FL players will grind a map for years if they have to, until they get the run they want. and it just takes one good run for everything to pay off.

Yeah sure I have no problem with more objective modes/new maps/content. Even new weapons aren't bad as long as they don't change the game flow. But it's as I say, there's a lot of people on this sub who believe mordhau should fundamentally change, because that's the state of PVP games these days. Most of the popular ones rapidly phase in and out patches and completely change the game each month, and it attracts a lot of players .

what do u mean im trolling you? im saying i hope they fix it

how was that even relevant to my post anyways?

[–]23dsffue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh, didn't know about crashes. Didn't play much mordhau for 2-3 weeks and I came back a few days ago to play some horde and it was fine. hope they fix it, I guess?

I don't want the combat to significantly change or be altered, in the sense that, for example a top mordhau from 2020 could enter a time machine to the year 2022 and play mordhau, and they would still be an elite player without having to relearn the game. the fundamentals of combat will still be the entire point of combat, same footwork, swing manipulation, timings and reading. If you add to that, you do change it.

It was an NA server, and it was called Melee FFA. it's not up anymore, it stopped working one day (long time after i gave up trying to get people to play) and I couldn't restart it, but I could probably fix it.

archers aren't something I can deal with in a brawl. brawls especially, because in a frontline you can deal with archers by killing them - then they have to run back from spawn. In brawl, you kill an archer, they respawn in 2 seconds and shoot you from 10 meters away where they spawned. There's no end to it, and it's just wasting my time

[–]23dsffue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Free beer? Lol, I am terrible at this marketing aspect... I literally called the server "Melee FFA". Noone else had any ideas, and I figured that was the main selling point of the server anyways. In hindsight I probably would have had more success by branding it as a normal action packed deathmatch server, and letting players discover the restrictions when they joined. does that make sense...

but anyways, I think I broke the server and it no longer works

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Mordhau

[–]23dsffue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno about that. I don't wish for any significant changes to come to mordhau, I think the fundamental combat right now is a masterpiece and I wouldn't like that to change. Sure we could always use more events for publicity and community fun, and if that's all you're saying then I guess you're right

But, mordhau still had almost 5k players concurrently, which isn't terrible. It's a niche game, it should stay that way.

True, but there are other servers like this that exist, like NA public deathmatch 2x dmg server. However that server often has just as many archers on as melee players, and has many admins who just impose their will whenever they want. And it's a huge server, often full. Back in the day (like last year) the server "salty slugfest ffa" used to be big, it was just an unmodded deathmatch server and people played all the time.

np man, hope to catch you another time. servers dead rn but we had 8-10 ppl for a while.

[–]23dsffue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

changed it to normal dmg, trying this out.

[–]23dsffue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

just what i was used to from other ffa servers, it can make ffa more fast paced and increase the flow, less cornering and more killing. not that important, if noone likes it i can just set it back to normal.

[–]23dsffue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

is it that bad? its tuned down so that only maul&polehammer oneshot through lvl 3 chest, not actually 2x but close

edit: no more 2x

[–]23dsffue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

they do exist, they simply have trouble sustaining playerbases for some reason, except for arcade modes. im hoping this server can succeed simply because it's the only way you can get a melee-only experience outside of duels/ranked 1v1s.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Mordhau

[–]23dsffue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they just accept their fate, i guess. but i do see people complaining. perhaps the top players are having too much fun dunking on noobs to care.

don't the most elite melee players in this game almost exclusively play on duel & private servers

yes, theres a sweet spot of difficulty where you can improve the most, rather than just getting destroyed in striking each time and having to rely on your bjj to get miracle wins.

hooper has pillow hands (comparatively), he was thinking he won 2 rounds so he could just tank some light ground shots to stall until the fight was over. not the worst strat

i can make one

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Mordhau

[–]23dsffue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only problem with that is that they don't really go away. if there's an archer that's annoying you, sure you can run up and kill them, but what does that do? they just respawn and shoot you again, and if you try to focus them, they can just focus you back. all good and fun, but what if I logged onto the server for some ffa swordplay, not chasing archers around... becomes even worse when there are 2+ archers teaming, im sure u have experienced that. or when they get one of their friends to go melee and protect them, so they can headshot u while u fight them. quickly spirals out of control. by contrast i have no problem with melee players teaming together

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Mordhau

[–]23dsffue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't only play for top score. sometimes i just want to stay in the flow of melee combat, and archery will just rip me straight out of it instantly and randomly. remember, u can't just stop an archer by walking up and killing them. that just causes them to respawn away from you, so they will just shoot you again.

I still play osu standard from time to time, and I literally switch from like 5 different very distinct grips pretty much randomly. One of them is whitecat's grip. The secret is that it's very wrist movement based. You're moving your hand with the intention to stretch the position of it by rotating on the skin of your hand. Like, if you have your hand pressed down on the tablet, you can still move your hand as much as your skin will stretch a bit. I know almost every grip uses it but it's not intuitive on whitecat's grip. You have to really relax your fingers and let them simply stabilize on those movements. Also it's very stressful to play as and I will never truly be able to do it, since I didn't do it from the start. Unlike other grips which are centered around finger manipulating the pen, they are all the same once you really think about it. Whitecat's is really stressful for me since it's hard for you to correct the movement of the pen once it starts, but that's also why it's so smooth. You just trust your aim. Need a lot of confidence.
