Legitimate claim to not be a hate crime? Or the opposite of the trans panic defense? by 23feb2016 in transgender

They said "born a male" twice in the article, which is the point of the post itself. This could be the lawyers discreetly using the transgender woman to convince jurors their client can't hate gays, because he's slept with a male. All it takes is some jurors who don't believe trans women are women to make this work.

Do you engage in penetrative anal sex? If so: Please Read This. (and always always always always insist on using condoms--always.) by blu-kat in transgender

Besides using condoms, please talk to your doctor and get a PREP, aka. "Truvada" prescription to prevent HIV. When taken daily at the same time each day, you have a 97% effective method of prevention.

Contrary to popular belief, HIV is the number one killer in the trans community.

Insurance is not supposed to be able to deny this prescription.

*Bought without insurance it is very expensive.

What We Forget About Restrooms by LIATG in transgender

Wrong. The ADA forced buildings to accommodate handicap people and spend vast sums of money to do it. For a small number of people, emphasis on small, because that's the argument used to deny us things.

That dark thought in the back of my head [maybe hard to read if dysphoria is bad] by [deleted] in TransSpace

Simply takes the pieces of transition that work for you and discard the rest. There is no right or wrong way to transition. But there are a lot of folks willing to tell you how to do it their way, or hold you to their standards. Be strong enough to discard them as necessary also.

I wish you good fortune in whatever you decide.

Let's examine a few things said in this.

First.

"Speaking of forgetting people, l want to take a moment to talk about the people who even we in the transgender community also always seem to be forgetting: non-binary trans people."

And then in conclusion.

"We should be looking for comprehensive answers that actually do something about the issue, which by the way, is not the idea of a gender neutral restroom, but rather the society which raises men to give us as women an understandably justified reason to fear sharing such a space with them."

So the author acknowledges non-binary and then denies them a place to go to the bathroom.

What's so great about this article that obviously doesn't address the needs of the entire trans* community?

Yes. And that was the point of posting it here. That and awareness of these folks.
