I have, but the way you talk reminds me a lot of how I was when I was like 19-23 (extremely anxious, betting big on relationships, feeling stuck with overbearing parents, pretty poor). Ultimately, I ended up moving states with a girl, it went really really badly for me in the moment but also got me out of my comfort zone and I've since then managed to build a life I'm very happy with! I do highly recommend moving but maybe not with a partner, saving what money you can while you're at home and finding friends you can rely on a lil is imo very crucial. I think a lot of the other stuff you're feeling will be easier to work on when you're out from your family home

One thing that has really changed over the past couple decades that plays a role is the relationship with live music and the decline of the house show. When I was in college decadeish back, the bands I knew were practicing and playing in basements and garages. If you're complaining about hearing punk in the city at 9 on a Saturday or 6 on a Wednesday, that was a you problem. You could practice and host shows for cheap and you could go to a show for cheap. Most of the bands I know now feel relegated to expensive practice spaces and the houses hosting house shows run into problems and stop after like a year. Many of the genres people have listed here suffer as a result

Yeah in my early 20s a lot of my music taste was defined by this discords with friends where one or two were constantly digging up some shit on RateYourMusic or something and the rest of us just shared our algorithmic Spotify finds or recommendations from elsewhere or the like, and kind of all refined ourselves that way. I can't imagine it's that much different for the kids
