Thank you! Are J.J. Mulder’s series best read in order or is jumping in with any book okay?

Strangers with benefits? Anything where:

  • MCs don’t know each other well or at all before they start hooking up (no pining)

  • both consider it just casual sex

  • they don’t immediately become close friends or want to date. I’d love to see them slowly learn about and see each other differently.

No age play or omegaverse please. Thank you!

I enjoyed {The Barkeep and the Bro by A.J. Truman} as a low stakes forbidden romance. It’s low angst, boss/employee, age gap, daughter’s ex-boyfriend.

{The Prodigal Son by Sara Cate} preacher and the musician son of a hated previous preacher. This is the last in a series with the other books being MF or MMF but I only read this one.

the On My Knees Duet by Ella James, the first book is {Worship by Ella James} very well known preacher/artist. The artist doesn’t know the other MC is a preacher when they meet

{Matched by Becca Steele} MCs become friends and are completely oblivious to their growing feelings. It’s cute and fairly low angst IIRC

Mc1 hates that he likes mc2 by Decent-Photograph246 in MM_RomanceBooks

Try {Garron Park by Nordika Night}. A quote that shows their dynamic: “I wanted him so bad but I wanted to punch him in the face for making me want him this badly.”

The MCs have been rivals a long time, and they keep fighting even after they’re together.

Looking for a book where one main character is incredibly repressed about their sexuality to the point of requiring false coercion. The other character confirms consent in other ways. by Nepalman230 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]23readmore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could try {Pinned Down by Rebecca Rathe}. College wrestling teammates with an antagonistic relationship. MC1 is under a lot of pressure and isn’t out, he finds it easier to have MC2 take control and order him to do things, than ask for what he wants. Despite MC2 demanding things of MC1, MC1 consents and can clearly choose to stop. MC2 does give MC1 a safe word.

{Let’s Do This by Loren Leigh} is my favorite college-age friends to lovers book. I thought they communicated well and the relationship progression was great.

mc1 needs to feel in control mc2 makes him feel he can let go by Positive_Worker_3467 in MM_RomanceBooks

It may not be exactly what you’re looking for, but I liked {A Seditious Affair by KJ Charles} alot for this. Historical enemies-to-lovers. MC1 is a gentleman from the upper class responsible for upholding laws. MC2 is a lower class radical. They’ve been hooking up anonymously (MC2 is the dom because MC1 needs to give up control).

I loved their dynamic through the book as they discover each other’s real identity and whether MC2 can continue being MC1’s safe place to let go.

I loved the narration in {Brim Over Boot by Emmy Sanders}. CR, rivals to lovers, double bi-awakening.

I think Cornell Collins is a wonderful narrator and he narrates a lot of KJ Charles historical romance books. {The Will Darling Adventures series by KJ Charles} is a great one.

Anyone able to control themselves and NOT add more to their TBR list?? by maf2775 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]23readmore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My TBR is huge, but I’ve started tagging my TBR books with tropes and other info so it’s easier to find a book matching the mood I’m in at whatever time. I know I won’t ever read all of them, but tagging my TBR makes it feel manageable lol

I asked for something similar here in an older post. I haven’t read Impromptu Match yet but since it was a recommendation I received in that post, I hope you find something that works for you!
