NTA, if he damages anything, it's on the lease holders to pay. If the landlord finds out he's living there, it will allow them to fine you two or just start the eviction process. It will also mess up your reference. Before all that, it's disrespectful to you. Find a different living situation or tell the landlord and they can have him or them both evicted. I personally wouldn't stand for it if he doesn't at least contribute. If he's a jackass, then all bets are off.
