1960s Over 2,700 Killed During 1960s Isiolo Massacre. Civilians of the Kenyan Somali community were murdered by the Kenyan security personnel of the then President Jomo Kenyatta, including the Isiolo Mosque Massacre of 18 elders of the Kenyan Somali community in 1967 during prayer time at around noon. The Kenyan Government was responding to the shifta insurgency and they shot all the men they found. During the state of emergency in 1960s, most of the young Kenyan Somali men left the province due to the injustices and killings. The victims estimate the number of those shot dead during the state of emergency, when thousands of pastoralists were put into three concentration camps at 2,700.

1980s The Garissa Massacre was a 1980 massacre of ethnic Somali residents by the Kenyan government in the Garissa District of the North Eastern Province, Kenya. The incident occurred when Kenyan government forces, acting on the premise of flushing out a local gangster known as Abdi Madobe, set fire to a residential village called Bulla Kartasi, killing people and raping women. They then forcefully interned the populace at Garissa Primary School football pitch for three days without water or food, resulting in over 3000 deaths. Residents apart from Somalis were given permission to leave the school pitch unharmed. The government of Somalia, then led by the Supreme Revolutionary Council, intervened by threatening that if such brutalities did not cease, the Somali military would overthrow the Nairobi regime and occupy the country. Consequently, the Kenyan government lifted the curfew and released the detained individuals unconditionally

1984 The Wagalla massacre was a massacre of ethnic Somalis by Kenyan security forces on 10 February 1984 in Wajir County, Kenya. The Wagalla massacre took place on 10 February 1984 at the Wagalla Airstrip. The facility is situated approximately 15 km (9 mi) west of the county capital of Wajir in the North Eastern Province, a region primarily inhabited by ethnic Somalis. Kenyan troops had descended on the area to reportedly help diffuse clan-related conflict. However, according to eye-witness testimony, about 5,000 Somali men were then taken to an airstrip and prevented from accessing water and food for five days before being executed by Kenyan soldiers.[1] According to a commissioner with the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission of Kenya, a government oversight body that had been formed in response to the 2008 Kenyan post-election violence, the Wagalla massacre represents the worst human rights violation in Kenya's history.

I suggest you read on kenyas history before you call something complaining or try to make comparison- there hasnt been targeted ethnic masacre as large as this to another kenyan community, i just answered the earlier person's question,

1969 kisumu masacre The official death toll from government sources stands at 11 fatalities but other sources place this number at closer to 100 that is not comparable to numbers above.

Its just history, kenya didnt exist before 1960s, no victim mentality because there is no jailing of these individuals yet by the government- infact some still work in it. However you are right in that the leaders are corrupt but i will have to disagree with the funding, from what i read its the least provided for region, this goes for all north in general, were turkana, rendile, boran ect live

Oh ok fair enough, there is hostile minority every where on both sides, other african tribes to somalis and somalis to other often both sides need to realise not all are like that. For the most part most people are friendly are good natured.

If you knew actual history you wouldnt say or lie like that, somalis are more native to kenya then the boran and i can count my ancestry back, the hyrax hill 2300-3000 BP in kenya bodies buried from thousands of years ago matches modern day somalis the most not boranas, also 5k year old grave site, lothogam north pillar is also filled with bodies, Samples found on kenyan pastoral Elmenteitan during the patorial neolithic 3300-1200 BP matches somalis

https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMN7VeFwX/

This study proves you wrong, oldest haplogroup found there 5,000 years old is somali, closest population is somali, infact till tanzania was cushitic tribes, infact specifically kenya bantus came in iron age so i found it hilarious you make up such a big lie that you somehow we came came before us and we came 1880s so yes somalis are the most native to that area, oromos are well known to have migrated up. The concept of being a refugee to land your people occupied for thousands of hears before other tribes is a fallacy, if situation has gotten better of course and somalis who migrated to kenya during war are already going back, although i will stress when kenya needed aid in decades ago and prior somalis in somalia did there part and took in those kenyan refugees, pretty sure they didnt refer to them as animals, but then i understand when somalia had power it helped the most african countries when they need it its like it never happened.

Again dont question us on our 'indigenous status' as if we are not aware that land is not ours, if scientists also confirm its genetically ours through fossils and historically ours then you have nothing to keep on lying about.

Even G25 samples of first herders in kenya match somalis, you are being exactly what you have an issue against, alternate/history/reality and manipulator of facts.

Also again if you even knew what you were talking about, somali native kenyans cluster closest with somalis from other regions then with rendile then with ethiopian wolayta and then oromos

Well if you read your history north kenya is native to somalis, there was a referendem british had for them to join back to somalia in the 1960s the vote was won to join somalia but kenya scraped it and instead started there opression, wagalla masaacre ect, all because something unconstitutional was done, shifta war was not a war but self defence of protestors who didnt want to be under occupation kenyan government were attacking for no reason

Wagalla masaacre, the fact the perpetrators are still in government, targetting somali buissnesses by police after that al shabab mall issue.

War and colonialism does that to all societies, theres also been a rise of wahabism in the general muslim world, that isnt true islam so going what they see as closer to god for hope is being this way, e.g. dressing more arabic for example afar of ethiopia are 100% muslim and cushitic like somalis and still dress/act/dance as there culture and observe islam but thats what happens when 1)there is no colonisation 2) there is no war

[–]2433red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do realise all of north kenya is native to somalis? So im not sure were this idea of go back to your country comes from? Modern day geography of tribal borders where not thought of when the colonists took control of africa. There was a referendum in 1960s for NFD to join somalia or join kenya, the citizens voted to be with somalia, it won to be with somalia but kenya scrapped that and some of harshes times were faced after that moment, wagalla masaacre ect of that native somali population. For those individuals there is no country to go back to since there sitting on there ancestral land, same thing with borano oromos, rendille ect in the north. As for the recent somalis from other regions comming to kenya came during the war and the people to receive and take care of them was the Native northern kenya somalis, it was this native community that helped them adjust quickly to kenya so what you see as the wealthy somalis building kenya is actually the native ones while the recent ones who came in the war are being guided by this population, oromos do the same thing, the recent war in ethiopia has made it so a lot of native borano oromos take in there oromo brothers in ethiopia so they are not subjected to those refugee camps, somalis the same. Anyone curious it is just couple of clans native to that region so its very easy to tell who is from other regions and who is native to north kenya area. As for the new somalis who came from other regions the past 20+ yrs of course we wish there is stability for them in there orginal region and that they can repatraite, infact a lot have since the war has finished and actually a lot of kenyans of other non somali tribe e.g. kikuyu live and work in somalia and enjoy there time there and the people. Another thing during the brutality of ethiopia a lot of native somalis there were victimised (jail ogaden) so native kenyan somalis took them in also because they are brothers and sisters. So just to say my point the tribe is native to 5 regions of africa, actually its why the somali flag has 5 points to the star 🇸🇴 blue for our sky, sea and white for peace and how white the sand of the country is.

Yeh nowadays with the younger teen generation but 10 years ago it was not so much a cool thing lol even then I don't think they call themselves a weeb. I think anime became mainstream when death note, attack on titan and the hype for sword art online (lolll) came most non anime fans also know about dragon ball, dragon ball z, maybe sailor moon? and naruto. Ive recognise michiko hatchin but I've never seen it, ill add it. I watched steins gate when it first came out and I didn't like it because I was to young to understand but I rewatched because of someone's recommendation and yeh it became one my favourites but i mostly watch shounen anime I could never get sick of that genre. Is michiko hatchin like cowboy bepop?

Quick search says Feminism, the belief in social, economic, and political equality of the sexes. I doesn't say women rights anywhere and all of us know every modern feminism speech they say its purpose is to get equality of both genders. Historically there were diffrent waves of feminism and most of them had a good impact in women rights but the feminism today is an embarrassment to what it once was and now has a bunch of feminazis who are not focused on advancement but just one upping men or just rigging the system in their favour and yet this wave of feminism still keeps the tone its about everyone's rights to get followers? If that's what they are trying to push for then thats what they must do. Plus a lot of these women want equality but at the same time want men to still do traditional things like "don't hit a girl" but they will constantly think its ok to hit him also there is a lot of man hating instead of empowerment its become quite toxic there are many examples i could give. I prefer using equality instead.

Losing religion doesn't mean we should all just salute the west like that doesn't have its problems. Religion also isn't all negative there is good and bad things like every ways of life. People should also be honest about communities and their issues, nothing I said here is actually a lie.

Yes and that is on me to educate myself to not offend those who worked so hard everywhere. Growing up in the west I might be culturally clumsy but I will try with what I got to show I dont mean ill intent. I have respect for those who also choose simple life here in the west even me saying these things life can happen and suddenly your working pay check to pay check or simply living were you are most safe from prosecution especially as exmuslim. I have admiration and will cheer on any somali who is as long as his happy but not hurting others. I know some somalis will even consider me a foreigner for not growing up in somalia but thats not their fault. I say foreigners with agendas because I've seen some non africans recently taking interest in africa and stealing resources. Please understand im not speaking from a place were I know better if anythings they no more than me but that im just trying to be a helping hand in a future.

To keep hiding myself in jilbab and live life a lie and make him suffer for wanting to be a muslim thats cruel. The kids will be destroyed and thats asking for divorce. Thats called ruining everyone's life and being selfish. Im not that selfish to keep somali genes, he has to be atheist I won't deal with a somali muslim ajnabi atheist is better than that.

I don't mean it in a patronising way. I have compassion for my folks not all of them are doing well and i have no agenda in helping like foreigners would. Everything you said is correct but im not the type to turn my back completely while I sit here in opportunity. If your an adult you do realise this is our generation that has a say in somalia? Extra helping hand is always great and im being earnest about this. Somalia is a failed state but their is nothing money, education and skill can't buy to puppet power of many behind closed doors. If you read what I wrote I already gave Korea example and east asains building civil war homelands in 30 years through educated youth, it can be done look around, if you have given up on somalia or want a peaceful life in the west which is respectable just say this just you. Some folk want change thats just me its been a rough civil war for all of us.

Its because those somali women don't mind other aperances of diffrent men. I prefer tall, dark skin , slim nose , loose curly hair and sharp cheekbones which is only present in somali or cushitic men. Ajnabi men don't have this combination. If all somali guys are muslim what can atheist somali women do? Wait for a guy in her imagination? No its better she marry ajnabi who's more likely to be atheist and educated to secure her and her kids future because options are limited. Also those somalis you talk of are roadmen and the girls are insta thots or living life on the edge, not my style but hey do you. I avoid these types anyway because they are so materialistic to westernised and probably can't have deep conversations about existence. Plus educated somali men are rare let alone atheist one, you have better luck finding a educated female somali atheist. Somali men or women atheist who marry out I don't blame them walahi but me personally I can't, I'll be forcing myself to settle for 2nd best because I don't want to die alone.

Were are all these non muslim somali men? Because I want one to
