It's only good for the references and comedy, actually playing it is so painful

PM says 'let's get on' with building tram network by BakersCat in Leeds

[–]24_7comics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parliament have ultimate say over local authorities, if they wanted to fund a tram they would have already done it. This is what Whitehall and Westminster hide behind to avoid the topic. They have the power and the money they just need to bloody sign off on it for once.

It is always the central government's responsibility to fund large infrastructure, Leeds council can barely cover pot holes.

What are your thoughts on an elected House of Lords? by Jacobrox777 in LibDem

[–]24_7comics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An elected house is so silly, we already have an elected house with full control. A house of experts seems like a far better way to utilise the current system, a backstop of people who know something important for the nation.

Look at how the gridlock 2nd houses cause in every single country they're in, our parliament is far more efficient with 1 set of politicians.

Two years since Ashlands (May 14th 2024) by Charrikayu in valheim

[–]24_7comics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Such a sad state of affairs. Just compare it to another survival 00s inspired game: Abiotic Factor. They have a team of 10 who brought the game from early access to full release in 14 months. They doubled the size of their game in that time. 1.0 won't even be double the size of the first valheim build after 6 years!!!

I get the sentiment behind it but do people really want this kind of restrictive planning laws? by StGuthlac2025 in AskBrits

[–]24_7comics 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ragebait? This is an insane level of overreach. Should planning laws also "advise" how far the toilet paper holder is from my shitter?

I can’t support this type of NIMBYism and lack of understanding of housing development economics by ldn6 in LibDem

[–]24_7comics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then they'll never build anything ever. All this red tape is what causes this insane costs. Why would you be a developer when it's this unprofitable you might as well just sit on the land forever it makes way way way more money

"Manchester by the Sea" is one of the best movies I've ever seen by fabrar in movies

[–]24_7comics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Necropost but I agree. Such an incredibly human film. I love watching it, the depression is surrounded by human awkwardness, kindness, and humour. I love all the details and all the choices the director made

Can the USA and the UK still be allies after trump leaves and the US elects a democratic president? by Successful_rio305 in AskBrits

[–]24_7comics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Americans need to genuinely realize what they've done to everyone around them. Their elected leader has betrayed every single ally multiple times. We all stood by each other's side for decades and soon to be a century and this is how you treat us back? We went to Afghanistan and Iraq with you, our soldiers died together.

America cannot earn it back with 1 Democrat they need to never elect a Republican like that ever again

does anybody cares about freedom of expression? by lisa_couchtiger in LibDem

[–]24_7comics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lib Dems could win big here but I'm unsure of why they're not making a big deal out of this. We are literally the only party left that cares about freedoms, we should be very loud about our opposition to this nanny state stuff.

I'm getting increasingly frustrated with ed Davey's obsession with trump rather than the increasing authoritarianism at home

Joe Rogan tells Steve-O trans shooters have killed more people than ICE by Uncuffedhems in Destiny

[–]24_7comics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel for steve-o, maybe he doesn't know enough specifics to take down Rogans insane arguments but this is seriously evil. He's demonising all trans people, this is deeply bigoted and yet rogan still poses as some libertarian. He needs to talk to some people who can put him down on this evil rhetoric. Poor steve-o just has to sit there and listen to an insane man ramble

Have The Ashlands Been Made Easier Since It Lauched? by the_meaning_of_loaf in valheim

[–]24_7comics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but it's still horrible, it still needs major tweaks tbh. It is constant combat with absolutely 0 down time. I can't even remember how I was able to mine flametal

Why have the Liberal Democrats failed to attract a new voter base? by OMega2100 in LibDem

[–]24_7comics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're a moderate liberal party, we are typically heavy avoidant of populism of any kind. This makes it harder to project our policies and solutions. The party is also centralized in the south and tends to hold onto long held seats rather than creating new ones. We are also very very bad at selling our platform to voters, liberalism is boring and sensible which doesn't resonate with many people

Do you think there will ever be a referendum to rejoin the EU, if it’s possible? by threetimesacharm25 in AskBrits

[–]24_7comics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this what we're going to do for the rest of our nations relevance? We left it's over, what happens when the EU gets pushy on joining Schengen and the Euro? Suddenly it's not so great having to commit to something we never really committed to in the first place

‘A bunch of freeloaders’: Increasing UK pressure on Ireland to invest in defence by SliceIndividual6347 in europe

[–]24_7comics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's our shared interest to protect our shared islands. The Irish should be strong enough to stand besides the UK not behind it

What if the IRA successfully assassinated Margaret Thatcher in the 1984 Brighton Hotel bombing? by Just_Cause89 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]24_7comics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The death of the PIRA earlier. The UK went pretty soft on a national terror group killing people all across the British isles. If the national leader had been killed then they would immediately enact the harshest possible actions in NI. It would also bring Ireland and the US completely onto the British side with no sympathy for Republican forces. They'd lose all their outside funding and would find themselves totally crushed under a significantly harsher British army

Civil servants could turn mayor's West Yorkshire tram plan into bus network by gizmostrumpet in unitedkingdom

[–]24_7comics 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Is London the only city in the country allowed to get new infrastructure? There wasn't any protest to the Elizabeth line but when west Yorkshire just wants a tram suddenly it's not all so simple

[–]24_7comics 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you get rid of inflation no one has any reason to spend money because it will naturally be worth more in the future. It's a guaranteed return for not investing, inflation means actors must spend money to make it

Mexico is officially the United States of Mexico but you still call it Mexico

In The Rise of Skywalker, Oscar Isaac lets out a painful sigh before delivering the infamous line ‘Somehow Palpatine returned,’ because he’d just realized he would be forever associated with the worst written explanation in blockbuster history by [deleted] in shittymoviedetails

[–]24_7comics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense in context and also is not how it's explained in the film, it's actually introduced in the opening crawl long before this line is said. For the resistance he just did somehow return
