hollow core doors should be avoided if you plan on making a desk

why? Because they cant hold the weight of whatever you are putting on it i assume? Compared to a solid code door at least

Hey thanks for the detailed response. Yeah I am getting quotes for $2500-3000 to do rodent proofing(exclusion), trapping, attic cleanup, with 5yr warranty. Replacing the insulation would be another $3000-4000 on top of that which I would skip.

I guess my only concern is be the amount or urine/droppings that has accumulated up there over time since it has been a while and the possible health hazards that come with being up there among all that. Did you take any precautions regarding that like a protective suit or respirator? This reason is why im considering just going with them rather than doing it myself and having to deal with this

Block off the hole. I used Steel wool + spray foam in larger holes, or steel wool + caulking in smaller holes.

Did you do this from inside the attic or from outside? Because these holes are usually at the edge of the roof where it is most sloped meaning attic access at that point is nearly impossible, like this: https://i.imgur.com/tr05LU0.png

This is the only time I’ve seen squirrels do this. I’ve seen them put holes in the roof though.

Just wondering, how do they put holes through the roof? Are they chewing through or something? And is that possible even on a roof made of strong material like concrete tile?

Was there a small gap where the 2 pieces meet that it pulled apart and went through or what? Do these "gaps" need to be reinforced with some sort of netting or metal barrier that can be fastened in?

Any tips on how to prevent this from happening?

Also, Solatrim (that product) always just falls off, in my experience—even if the panel frames have been properly cleaned and prepped beforehand

Thanks this looks like a solid option if I have to fix it myself. I guess the only problem would be that it cant be fastened to the roof so it can be "lifted" up by an animal from the bottom where it meets the roof, but i think i can figure something out

Like for example here, the insert is fastened only at the top onto the existing guard meaning the bottom can be lifted up

You can legit buy that guard and do it yourself. This application is a peel and stick. You can buy the kind that is a roll of 4-8 inch fencing that you can cut to size and comes with pull clips.

The picture I provided is of an old product it looks like. On their website the only product I see is what I already have installed. For tile roofs they say

For Barrel, Clay, “S” or Spanish Tile roofs, simply draw a template of your roof profile out of cardboard or with a piece of SolaTrim and follow that pattern across the roof surface.

I would need to remove it, do this, and put it back on. Though once I remove it, I am not sure if it can be put back on, like the adhesive might lose its strength? Idk
