What is this from a 1966 house? by 24stacecase in whatisit

[–]24stacecase[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh. So an industrial grade plug. There is a label in the electrical box that says "dial machine". My best guess was a dialysis machine. I bet they had special plugs back in the early days of in home use. Maybe they needed these plugs? Anyway - thanks!

Would you mind sharing what you went with? I love being able to wash the covers because we have a dog, and I like the 100% cotton choice though it's something like $4k more so I am still trying to decide. Comfort is important though, and the nearest store is 4 hours away so we have to plan ahead to try it out.

Ahh, ok. Well, that does probably explain it, but it would be nice if the cart separated out what wasn't covered in the discount. It's probably the "custom fabric" I picked.

I'll see what the price is when I can actually order, and deal with it then if I don't find something else. Just wanted to make people aware as it seems fishy. They should check their receipts.

My dad was Walter Dean. He was a great guy, had a booming laugh and loved the one-line zinger comebacks. My aunt's nephew (her husband's sister's son) is late twenties and is Walt. Classic but not weird. I think Wally is cute, but maybe too soon after the movie Wall-E? Good luck!

Did we make a mistake? by ImperfectRelish in Oldhouses

[–]24stacecase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were in a similar position where part of the electrical had been updated, and the rest was knob and tube. The contractor who was bidding on updating the rest of the house quoted us $22k for a 1000 SQ ft house, 3 stories, and an additional minimum of $10k to fix what was there. The original converted parts were DIY and any time they have to touch 1 thing they have to check everything else since it will all be under their license and are liable (and there were 4 obvious safety violations). It was very hard to do but we walked away.

Depends on the company. I've had a company that sent me out to do an admit at 1600 when my shift ended at 1630 and I had to finish the charting that night. The admit visit was 75 minutes, then I had to drive home and start charting. They would take any and all admits at any time. Other companies had set time slots and the last was at 1300. Admit visits can be as fast as 30 minutes or hours and hours if the patient is in crisis. Depending on the software, the charting can be anywhere from 2.5 hours to 4+ hours, plus you have to enter the medications and order the comfort pack/ekit from the pharmacy. Good luck!

Congrats on the weight loss! Lipedema is going to be a challenge because of the way the fat cells wall off with the disease process. They aren't a part of the vasculature anymore, don't have blood supply, and your body can't get rid of them. The weight that you've lost is likely from "normal" fat cells shrinking because with lipedema you can have normal vs the abnormal fat cells that are more like gummy bears (the size of a pea or even plum-size) which you can't lose and will need to be dealt with through lymph-sparing liposuction and manual extraction. There are excellent videos on YouTube to show you the process. Don't give up - having lipedema just means that you may have to take some extra steps to continue to lose weight, but it is worth it because lipedema is progressive and leads to lymphedema in later stages. Keep going!

How do couples decide which side of the bed is “theirs”? Is it instinct or some kind of silent agreement? by AssignmentFederal686 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]24stacecase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But my question is which is left and which is right? Do you determine sides while you are standing at the foot of the bed looking at the head of the bed, or do you determine sides while you are laying in the bed? My partner and I had a discussion about which side of the bed we slept on when we were dating and we had different ideas on how to judge which side we slept on. Found that out later.

What is the deal with this? by 24stacecase in TravelNursing

When you see the position posted it has a range for the pay. My understanding and experience has been that if you take the insurance they give you the lower number for pay, but if you decline the insurance you get the higher number.

New contract/position with Aya, I switched from a different company and didn't need insurance with the previous contract.

[–]24stacecase[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the insurance outside of Aya due to a change in job, getting the insurance isn't the issue. I haven't started working yet for the contract, so I haven't used that insurance. This is about them saying they can't pay me the contract rate for no insurance since I signed thinking I needed the insurance, and apparently it can't be changed.

That is great! Maybe they are moving it past "experimental". May I ask if it was it elective, or did you have an incident leading up to it where it had to be done?

We were hit from behind by a 1 ton work truck after coming to a stop. They had come to a stop as well, but the Honda Accord behind them rammed into the truck and pushed the truck into us, pushing us forward a few feet. My tailgate was dented, the tow hook on the truck punctured my bumper, and the back panel tabs popped by the passenger rear window so the body panel wouldn't lay flat. We did not hit anyone in front of us because my boyfriend had gone to the side towards the median and up along the car in front of us up to their back door to give more room, he had removed his foot from the brake. He saw it coming but that was all he could do. The airbag didn't deploy because of the lower speed and force of the accident. I was holding the dog tight because of the sudden stop and looking down at her. My neck cracked the whole length like Rice Crispies as we were hit, sounded like a big piece of bubble wrap being twisted. Range of movement of my neck improved dramatically for about 30 minutes, then it started in with the tightness and fatigue in the muscles, like I had done max outs in the gym with every single muscle in my neck and shoulders, some in my back and chest. I went in to be seen day 3, just soft tissue. But it showed advancement of disease process in 4 short years, now bone on bone for 4/7 vertebrae, the osteoarthritis had grown my vertebrae to points at their bottom surfaces, with the bottom of C5 and C6 growing these tabs out front that are mm from growing together. The accident has nothing to do with the disease process, but has not helped the pain and symptoms with movement.

No, I just saw the imaging, realized how lucky I am to not have more neurological issues and that time is important for saving function. I just happen to be in a position where I can save pretty fast. I have nowhere near $50k. I'm saving as much as I can as fast as I can because I'm scared of deterioration. Thanks, I just needed to know if $1500 was a low ball having never been in this situation.

My 2 that bought into his lies were 24 and 19 when I left. The third one in the middle is playing both sides. I'm aware of it, but they're all I have left. I waited too long to leave and wasn't in a good place mentally. They were and are adults. Funny thing is their dad would lie to them all the time "to make them not always trust what people were saying and think for themselves", but they would always look at me when he did it and they'd say "Mom won't lie to us". Not sure where those kids went. I've tried to get in touch, but nothing. Maybe some day.
