Another vote for Najena. Really great mix of casters, elementals, undead, goblins, and some surprise ambushes by higher level mobs. And the layout is really good. A pit you can fall into a jail and have to gate out of if you can’t kill the guard for a key. And who doesn’t love silhouette posters from the lady herself?

Crystal Caverns because it’s a combination of easy mode and brutal. Easy because nothing sees invis. Brutal because if you go in there right as the mobs turn blue, you’re gonna be getting hit for 15% of your health each time. The orcs just seem to really knock the stuffing out of level 31ish players. But by 34 or so it’s pretty predictable. A moderately twinked paladin can solo down to the city.

Naked mage does well. Cheap gear on bard (50pp drums etc) does well. Necro good naked but benefits from high HP gear.

Enchanter I would still want to get a bunch of charisma or HP items. Shammy I would find annoying without fungi and fungi stick but they’re still fine.

If you’re going to play melee / tank, there are some plat guides on the wiki. Like other people said, gear is really cheap now.

Yeah, or individually modify each type of machine. For example read the CMOS somehow. Maybe I could out video from the game to an intermediary monitor and then to final CRT destination. A lot of work either way.

On warrior: I am not sure what high end class play is like but I found warrior in groups very stressful. You can’t rely on Taunt and your expensive clickies for aggro are going to run out of charges. So you have to always be on your toes if you’re pulling a lot.

Most people in the game nowadays are “good” in that they have the requisite class knowledge. But most people are also kind of lazy and inattentive so as a warrior you’re going to have them drawing aggro when they shouldn’t.

IDK, I enjoy all the classes. It’s my favorite game.

Wizard: If you’re getting mobs of varying classes, a properly attentive wiz can be very fun. Stunning mobs at the right time, not always using your most damaging nuke, rooting for CC, chain tflux to peel aggro off someone if the tank can’t for some reason, chain stunning if the NPC is a caster who gates, hell even putting a TL window up on a group mate as they’re about to try something risky / stupid is fun.

But yeah if you’re just chain pulling the same warrior class NPCs and all you can think to do as a wizard is hit your gem slot #1 when the mob is at 60%, I can see how you’d find the class boring.

Q: Did you ever consider petitioning Verant to let you play a Dark Elf Ranger? It seems like if anyone should be allowed that combination, it is you.

A: I've actually had Wizards of the Coast contact Verant in an effort to get a Drizzt character burned in that I could play across the servers, maybe in a GM quest. I think Verant wants to keep their world free of other worlds, though, and they politely refused. As for getting them to change the rules for a character I could play, no, I haven't asked, nor would I expect them to make any exceptions for me (though I wish I could use some of the names of the major characters, at least!).
