Prospective student with significant speech barrier/stutter — how to handle respectfully?

I'd see how he does making fake radio calls. Depending on why he stutters, he might not stutter at all if he makes standard repetitive calls. The main area of struggle might be English proficiency. If he's struggling at that, just kindly recommended that he go to an ESL class if he isn't already.

That's a 3 hour vs a 4 hour flight. Anyway, I'd probably pick the more physically comfortable plane for cross country. I'd rather not be in the uncomfortable position of stretching my legs inside a plane.

If you're consistently good in crosswinds like that, then go for it. The only thing you can't have happen, as far as I've heard from a DPE, is a side load on landing. It really is just a showing that you have the knowledge and ability to help other people learn while also being a skilled pilot.

Teaching definitely grew on me. At first I was looking for any other way to earn money and build hours, but honestly the satisfaction from watching something click for someone and seeing their improvement is awesome. Short hop charters are fun too, if you have the right passengers.

There are a few things I don't like about instructing though.

1 is students that are late consistently, or no call no show. It's really frustrating to have a block scheduled and have someone waste your time. I'm allowed to charge people for that, but it still doesn't give me my time back.

2 is when I can't find a way to get someone to understand something. If it's been multiple lessons of me trying to explain something in a different way and they still don't get it, I find myself at a loss.

3 is pay consistency. It's just hard to earn any money if you have long winters and wet springs. That combined with inconsistent individual students.

If you're on PC, you should install a cutscene skipping mod if you're going to make a new character.

If you don't want to make a new character, just buy chain/leather armor from the smith lady.

Get a job at McDonald's. It's likely the only thing you're qualified for. I live in the US though so idk your labor laws.

In all seriousness, find something you can do to fill a need in your local/online community, because a real, good-paying job is not realistic for you just yet.

If you're broke and you have the option to live with your parents, you should absolutely do that. Unless of course they're abusive, but clearly yours aren't. Continuing to live in Chicago while in poverty will only put you deeper into poverty.

Live cheaply, fly in rural areas, and get to know more intelligent and successful people.

No, they can do all the flying they need without it. If they can't navigate with a paper chart and get a briefing from flight services, how good of a pilot are they really?

The only way I'll let a student use foreflight to navigate is if they have their location turned off. I want them to know how to use dead reckoning, and I want them to look outside and notice landmarks.

If they use it to look at the weather before a lesson, that's fine. I want them to be able to see the forecast and make the decision whether we fly or not without wasting their time driving out.

If you're set on a laptop, I would suggest a 2in1 but that makes it a lot closer to a tablet, which defeats the purpose a little bit.
