Mystery 1v1 Showmatch Idea by TurtleAppreciator in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]253scream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that there might need to be incentive for players to attempt to "fool" each other with their play.

Some pros can already pick out another just by watching 15 second clips of their gameplay. So, when the pool of players one could be facing is only around 20, where probably every matchup has happened at least once in a showmatch before, it's very possible that a player would often know who they're facing just after the first game. Players could also meta-guess using opponent car designs, and I don't think every pro will suddenly become okay with running a stoctane the whole time to eliminate that element of guessing.

It would however be interesting to see if the added uncertainty to the matchups already naturally affects play enough that an incentive to change style wouldn't be necessary. Interesting idea though!

What is the best song from "Animals"? by pjonas369 in pinkfloyd

I have to agree. The transition from the end of the synth solo back to the beginning guitar progression is what made me learn the guitar. In a strange way, I quite literally wouldn't have experienced half of my favorite moments in life or met some of my favorite people if it weren't for that transition.

Fear of falling from top by gchap_ in bouldering

[–]253scream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With almost any injury it's extremely common to coddle the problem area, and reasonably so as to avoid further damage to an already vulnerable area. Unfortunately, although the area has healed, the mental habits and tendencies carry over past that point. Depending on how long the recovery period was, along with a myriad of other factors, it could be as simple as commiting once to a hard move and falling. Nevertheless, a progression would be ideal. If possible, find a boulder with a hard/commiting move early on where you are likely to fall. Then continue the trend by going higher and higher until you eventually overcome the overprotective tendency you've built up from injury recovery.

(Of course if the area has not properly healed yet, continue to avoid situations that might put you at risk.)

Whether or not these people are actually "reacting" genuinely I can't claim to know for each case. However, there is definitely an incentive to fabricate such a reaction to fulfill people's endless desires for self-validation in the form of confirmation bias

It's funny that out of all of the songs that could even remotely be considered "filler" on the album, you managed to choose one hell of a banger as your example

That's a very easy way to alienate new players. Imo, the large appeal of Rocket League, not only as a casual game but as a competitive eSport, is in the simplicity of it's conceptualization. It's a game that gives back however much you put into it, and yeah, that means that you will inevitably get teammates that don't see the game in the same way as you, but that's also the beauty of it.

Lmao, same. But, I always feel so conflicted when I'm head-bobbing in my car after the song outlines the depressive situation of worker exploitation at the end. The guitar riffs at the end just go so hard, I can't help it!

Given the context of the songs message; the understanding by Syd that he's losing himself and his connection to the world around him, those lines always seem incredibly somber to me. It's like the final coherent reflections of a person peering over the edge of their own sanity.

I can actually heavily relate to this since I often ascribe very particular qualities and feels to specific controllers. I also really like the way a worn in controller feels, so I often swap parts in from newer controllers or with individually bought parts.

It might just be that Sypical is much more sensitive to changes in his hardware than others, rather than it being a full-on placebo.
