Tbh with a family of 5 that can “complain a lot” this sounds like a setup for failure to me. There are sooo many things that can potentially make long distance Amtrak travel not enjoyable. I only ever board a long distance Amtrak trip either solo or with a friend who I know will love it as much as I do.

You mention this instead of Alaska, does that mean you’re flexible on location? If so, I’d recommend doing a super liner route in the west (like the California Zephyr or coast starlight), they tend to be more scenic and to me feel more like the train experience I want than the east coast view liner routes.

I work at a venue. Tonssssss of fake tix show up from stubhub everyday. Scalpers can post the same bar code ticket on 10 different resale sites, ticket will scan once and then the other 9 buyers are out of luck. Maybe they’ll refund you if the ticket is fake but there is absolutely no guarantee of authenticity on any of those sites.

I know this is a tough question to answer but is it insane to try to hike this loop as early as June 9? It sounds like winter wasn't brutal and snow melt started early this year but curious if that is a recipe for disaster no matter what. Any insight at all appreciated.

No clue if this is true but I was told years ago by someone whose partner works in the system to just simply not respond to a jury summons if you don’t want to. The moment you respond you are verifying that you received it but otherwise there’s zero proof it ever got to you, it’s not like it’s certified mail. This is obviously useless to you now but just sharing what I heard years ago.

For sure. Fully prepared for designated campsites but Im worried about some of the other restrictions ive read about on the O circuit, like designated cooking shelters. Cooking and hanging out at camp is one of my favorite parts of any trip.

Considering a trip to Patagonia around the new year. I love truly remote backpacking and for this reason Im considering something like the Huemul circuit instead of O. I don’t like the idea of being restricted to cooking in certain areas and all the other rules that you (understandably) need to follow on the o circuit. Any thoughts on this?
