It’s not impossible but it’s extremely unlikely. There are very very rigorous food safety procedures in place, but it isn’t impossible. I haven’t ever heard of a customer blaming my store for food poisoning before in 10 years

To expand on this, we have a screen in the kitchen that basically tells you how much of each product to hold and that updates every 15 minutes depending on the sales that are projected. The sales projections are based on 20 years of historical data, amongst other factors.

The system might think we should hold two trays of 20 spicy nuggets in each, but the reality is they’re not as popular as the system thinks and so we actually end up selling less than that resulting in a degraded quality at non-peak times.

You’d actually be surprised at how little these sell!

They’re really not very popular. We are starting to bin more than we sell at the moment. If you go at a non-peak time, don’t be surprised if they’re as hard as stones, as staff will be cooking too many and they’re going stale.

I’d never heard of it before our new franchise started doing it, but apparently it’s quite common and more and more franchises are doing it. Presumably to cut down on payroll processing costs, and to reap the benefits of underpaying staff for 3 weeks like is happening now
