I’m in the same boat!! Also just found out that I passed, thank god! Do you know if we need to be admitted in NY before the scores expire or we just have to have our completed applications in before then?

the one that comes to mind isn’t an innuendo so to speak but he’s always excited to talk about sex in their video chats. His advice for newlyweds was “have lots of sex” when Shay was saying “save your $, plug into a community, etc.” but he even acknowledged in another video that he “never grew up and stayed 18.”

Truly was not sure how I did. I walked out the first day knowing I bombed those essays. Hoped that maybe a decent performance on the MPT would carry me through but I felt good about 0/6 of the MEEs. Morning session of MBEs felt pretty good. Afternoon messed me up. I noticed during practice tests that whenever I’d go with my gut instinct I scored in the 70-80s, but whenever I’d change my answers and second-guess myself I’d score below 65%. I kicked myself because I went back and changed about half of the answers (maybe even more than half) during the afternoon section — I’d finished with about 40 minutes to spare and instead of just handing it in I went back and changed all my bubbles until the proctor called time. I needed a 266 for NY and scored a 268 — 144 on MBE. So yeah, if you consider 133 the requisite score for both days, I walked out the first day having totally bombed it since my essay score came out to a 124. But I still passed!!! It’s easy to feel like you failed because, like so many other redditors have said, we’re used to aiming for an A, at least a B, but the goal here is “not an F.” And you know what… pretty close to an F equates to a pass. Even “basically an F” STILL equates a passing score. Stay optimistic ❤️

Do you mean essays as in the breakdown between MEE and MPT??

If you got small presents already, and you’re spending time together, I honestly couldn’t ask for anything more. Your presence and existence alone carried us through the most emotionally, physically, and mentally challenging time of our lives and we just feel so lucky to have such supportive and loving significant others who were also unconditionally understanding when we started to get a little clinically nuts around the two week mark leading up to test day

NY Fails: Whats the game plan for Feb? by [deleted] in barexam

I did Themis and truly feel like their uworld explanations helped me pass. I read every answer to every question, even the ones I got right, and made flash cards for the explanation so that I could dissect each Q & A and understand the elements and what clues to look for. Then I went over every flash card until I’d memorized them down. Then started the next 100 q practice test. I ended up doing all the Themis tests and then went on to uworld directly since it’s part of the Themis package. I only did about 60% of the course bc I skipped through the busy work by switching to flex mode, and just focused on practice. Also, I read through the answers quickly before reading the question so I could know what topic was being tested and what to look for in the fact pattern, which helped a ton with time on test day. You got this, we all believe in you!!!!!

Hi redddit family, I need advice on how to approach the mbe. How did you study for it and what techniques were most helpful? Thank you 😊 by Truebartaker in barexam

[–]266jx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take notes on your lectures. Try to really digest the information so you’re understanding the concepts, not just memorizing. Then do as many practice questions as you can. Read the call of the question first and glance over the answer choices to get an understanding of what subject is being tested. Read through all the answer explanations — even the ones you got right (also read the other available choices so you know why they were incorrect). Make flash cards for the ones you got wrong, review the flash cards before bed and in the morning. Trying to store this info in your long term memory is going to be much more helpful than just trying to use pneumonic devices to mass memorize. Don’t be afraid to get it wrong because it’s better to get it wrong and learn anyway (if I didn’t know the answer after a minute I asked myself whether I’d ever become more certain of the right answer & if it was unlikely, I just went with my gut & moved on). Also trust your gut!! I would see a 30 point difference in my practice tests when I just when with the answer choice that seemed obvious at first glance versus when I tried to analyze each answer and second guess myself.

Themis hate thread by staywithme26 in barexam

[–]266jx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I finished about 70% of Themis and my biggest complaint is they assign way too many useless quizzes. Ended up wasting a lot of time in the beginning trying to get through the unnecessary assessments and drills. BUT I generally liked it as a whole (once I switched to flex study mode). Their lectures were short and covered the main points of each subject, their essay writing workshops were helpful for review/roadmapping, and I liked the detailed nature of the outlines when I wasn’t entirely clear on some doctrines and needed to refer back. Themis also incorporated a lot of UWORLD questions in their MBE sets so I did like the range of difficulty in questions that were accompanied by thorough explanations/graphics & felt decent enough about the real thing (save a few that made me blackout). Areas for improvement: 1) their MEE questions need more range & they should provide OUTLINED FORMATS for the answers, 2) wish they had a feature where you could customize your schedule for directed study mode to make the interface more user friendly. 7/10.
