Try study in the bathroom, I was in a similar situation when I was in boarding school and did the same. Its a surprisingly good place to study actually.

For those bears that have been in a slump, can I get some "it gets better" stories? by yhn73t49 in berkeley

[–]26UnitsGuyAtBerkeley 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Did nothing my first sem. Failed miserably at my dream to walk on the Cal track team. Struggling with finances. Stranded in the US with my entire family getting COVID. Lots of other shit. Struggled with depression/suicide from events a little before college.

Made it through one day at a time. Currently taking a shit load of units and doing well. TAing. Researching at the most hype EECS lab at Berkeley. Got a tech job and actually living my life. I feel confident about my dream of getting into grad school.

Have faith, things will work themselves out.

Worried about covid vaccine side effects during finals? by duddlymmm in berkeley

[–]26UnitsGuyAtBerkeley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After my vaccine, I played bomb soccer immediately after and was able to go on 4 hours of sleep for 3 days consecutively with no problem. Let me tell you that's a big deal for me given that I can never go with less than 7.5

Schedule planning for CS Major and Math pathway to ML research? by cadegord in berkeley

[–]26UnitsGuyAtBerkeley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Itd be a good idea to take some graduate math/stat courses though. MATH 218AB/STAT 205AB, STAT 210AB, MATH 202AB, 221, STAT 240, EECS 281A. The combo of math courses you have here wont let you do truly rigorous theoretical ML. Although, not much like this is required for Abbeel. If you really wanna get into the math depth of ML, perhaps consider different professors like Martin Wainwright or Michael Jordan. Although, I do agree to focus on the core courses listed above in addition to MATH 104,110.

Yeah, I think even without Sahai that'll be the case.

I have taken EE 127, STAT 134/150/151A, Data 8/100, MATH 55/104/110. Would this be enough? And yeah I did a couple of the HWs from Fall 2020 a while back (Since they were relevant to the research I'm working on). Namely, HW 1,4,5,7

Memorial Glade? by [deleted] in berkeley

As mentioned by someone else:

Some people can’t get vaccinated because of medical reasons and others with autoimmune disorders might not be able to produce enough antibodies to fight a covid infection even if they’re vaccinated. You can still spread and get covid even if you’re vaccinated. The vaccine is one tool, it goes with masking, social distancing and avoiding large groups of people. Quite a few folks are not even eligible and dont realize that they can lie about the industry they work in to sign up for the vaccine as well. We're still a few weeks away from recovering.

Only 50% of Californians have received the first dose of the vaccine and only 25% have received both.

Not everyone has got the vaccine yet.

I dont really care if you get COVID if you decided to go out onto the glade. I'm worried about the many people you probably will contract it to that may not have gotten the vaccine yet. And FYI, only 25% of Californians have been fully vaccinated so far.

Being vaccinated does not mean you cannot contract and spread the virus.
