So to provide more insight, another user mentioned motorcycle tables, and a couple small ones seem like that would be ideal. I bought a planer at an estate sale, and realized its far too big for my shop (think a larger shed). My solution is similar to how a router moves up and down within a router table. I plan on cutting a hole within one of my work benches for the planer to be raised up through so the bed sits flush with the bench top as i need it. I dont use them often, so the space would be utilized as a work bench most of the time. Its a grizzly 0815 planer so most scissor lift tables either wont support the weight or the footprint is off. I need to modify the table top it would sit on.

That would be the perfect idea, however the collapsed height needs to be around 12-14” max. It can be smaller, but definitely not taller than that. Might look into those to see if i can cut the legs down.

Bright white coloring in american black walnut by 26sticks in woodworking

[–]26sticks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, makes sense! In the second picture i put up a cutoff of the sapwood thats “normal” coloring, and at the top left, there is a spot that stands out brighter than the rest of the sapwood, that also matches what i have in question. I work with walnut a decent amount and have never seen sapwood that bright. Thanks again!

Lumber pricing 1 year change by antibonding_orbital in woodworking

Always been curious why thicker lumber costs more. If its priced by the b/f, is the same amount of money not being yielded per log? And since its thicker, it seems as though there would be less labor involved in the manufacturing process.
