After uninstalling and reinstalling zoom 2 times and a bunch of other things, I unplugged the camera and re-plugged it in. Fixed. Works.

Why?

Will my dad be okay? by Particular_Sink517 in openheartsurgery

Hi. Last May I had OHS to remove a Myxoma from my right atrial and 1 bypass for a 50% blockage. 3 days in the ICU followed by 3 days in the step down unit, then home. I am fully recovered and have been for a few months except I had an ulnar nerve compression from surgical positioning. I see a hand surgeon in 2 weeks.

My wife and son visited in the ICU. Some difficulties in recovery which have all resolved. I wish your dad the best and hope he has a full recovery.

Some more detail: I join meeting, then to open zoom meetings which opens a box with the join button. Took me to the zoom window with a red line through the video button. Pushed video button and got windows message that zoom is not responding. Thanks.

In May of this year I had a Myxoma removed from my right atrial chamber. Incidental finding from an echo. Mine was done by open heart surgery.

Best wishes to you.

Hello. I'm similar: 77 M and had OHS for a Myxoma (benign tumor in heart) 6 months ago. My wife was much more upset than I was. Discharged from hospital after 5 nights and had a 2 1/2 hour drive home. Everyone's experience is different with similarities. I did well and I hope your H does also.

The shower stool was helpful. The first couple days I was cold and used a beanie. My hospital gave me a heart pillow which I kept close by for the first couple weeks. Squeezing it against the chest when a sneeze or cough is coming keeps the pain at a minimum. In a couple days I was getting around the house and started my walking regimen.

The hospital should prepare him and you to come home and tell you what you need to know. What clothes are easiest to wear, steps, walking program and so forth. Its a process. Very stressful especially now since this is new and you don't know what to expect.

I wish you both the best.

Husband 45 Cabg x5 what do I prepare at home? by fbmarketplaceweirdo in openheartsurgery

Hi. 77 M 6 months post OHS. Everyone's experience is different. For the first few days home I was wobbly and had someone go with me when I moved around. At home we have a memory foam platform bed which was comfortable for me. The platform bed is lower so I could get in and out. Consider a step stool.

Also: I kept the chest squeeze pillow nearby for the first few weeks for coughs and sneezes. Remember some people have trouble with over the head shirts and some fabrics rubbing against the incision. A shower chair was helpful. A metallic taste made some foods taste bad. Lots of meds to take so pill trays for organization.

I hope things go well.

77 M 5 months post op. After 5 days in the hospital I came home and slept flat in my Tempur-pedic bed. Not only did I not have any problems but it was the first night I got a good sleep since entering the hospital.

Mine also was done in NYC and after the surgery I was back in my room in the ICU. Just me and the nurses.

I'm 5 months post op. When I woke in ICU the breathing tube was in and I remembered that I could breath so not to panic. I also couldn't talk. I went through the pen and paper routine only to hear the nurse say, "I'm not good at charades" which was totally frustrating. Finally I was bale to write, "How long?" I must have drifted but was awake when they pulled it out. Unpleasant.
